V4 1,500 Miles So Far

  1. Quick update – now at 2,800m and just back from a 600m weekend in Wales. Last time I was there it was on the 1260 and the V4 didn’t disappoint! All the power and handling that you would ever need on those great Welsh roads, that included some single track stuff as well. V4 is easier to manage on slow gnarly sections at slow speed than the 1260 and just as fast on the open roads – very happy with the new bike and ACC was useful on the speed limited sections of the M4 on the way back .

The V4 rear tyre shows signs of being “marked” up on the sides but not as much as with the 1260, could be that the V4 torque is smoother than the V twin so gives the rear tyre an easier time.

In answer to a couple of points on this thread –

    - I have V2 of the Iconic Sat Nav mount now with the new 3D parts which have more bracing for the 4 columns on the parts that attach to the bike, yes there is some vibration on bad surfaces but seems more stable that the original parts that delaminated – replaced FoC by Iconic, many thanks.

    - There is some engine “whine” from the V4 motor at lower revs but nothing that bothers me. You certainly can’t hear it at higher revs 6/7K, especially if you then open up hard as all you can then hear is a lovely induction roar – even with ear plugs in!
