  1. I'd love to use it on track @cookster it would be an awesome weapon, but it's just too nice!! I would never forgive myself if I damaged it!!

  2. I am interested in nice bikes Steve, but don't have the funds to make it happen. I'll not waste your time.

I have a new bike on the horizon, but not as expensive as your Bayliss. :) :upyeah:

  3. It's all about the price Steve and they are being marketed unrealistically right now. They were £15k a couple of years ago, now people want £30k and wonder why they aren't selling. Non Bayliss 1098Rs are now in dealers for £22k in some cases, menkal mate.

Sheffield has gone to people's heads and sent them doo-lally.

  4. I agree to a point Rob, I suppose it all depends how much the bike owes you & what point in the bikes life cycle you bought it. In my experience "special" bikes start off expensive....drop for a few years....then climb again. In many cases they rise to levels above the original price & also the sellers need to sell has an affect, if you need to sell, then it'll be cheap......if you don't, you can hold out for top money (depending on condition obviously).
There's also how much someone wants something.....I paid top money for your Streetfighter because I really wanted it!!

  5. Yep, I've got bikes worth more than I paid, if you avoid the temptation of buying new and shiny, let someone else take the initial hit and buy the right model, you'll always do OK.

But there is something else going on at the moment and some people marketing used Ducatis are in an unrealistic bubble. Just look at how long they are hanging about on the used market, that speaks volumes.

Oh, that Streetfighter was a bargain. :yum I still look at them, but nice ones, in the right colours with good miles and the right vintage are few and far between. I had a bike in my dealer for service a few weeks ago and he told me he hasn't had one in for ages.

  8. I think the "Sheffield" affect comes from the car market to a degree, collectable/classic cars have been rising for years due to interest rates being so poor. I'm guessing that the "Sheffield" dealer started off dealing with cars.

  9. You don't need to guess, I thought it was common knowledge

  10. @Exige you've a vested interest here as you own one as well,so what do think on current prices for a private sale.

  11. I own 2 as I is a bit greedy :bucktooth: I paid £25,500 for my 1500 mile 1 owner minter you put me onto. (top money at the time although Sheffield had a new one up for £37k that they seem to shift)
My Norse Superbike Winning one is by far my favourite of the 2 though and cost me £14k.
Had both about 2 years I think?

Don't think the high end models have risen in the last 2 years but they haven't dropped - base and S models have in the mean time gone a bit daft - especially 999 models and some 1098 / 1198 too.

Considering the mileage and comparing to mine which also has everything with it including 2 covers (one new) I would think anywhere between £20k and £25K maybe (£20k if I was buying and £25k if I was selling) o_O

What do you recon - I imagine it will pop up at £29,950 and sell in a day knowing his luck with the Foggy Rep :joy:

  15. Close.....a tad over what Si has advised......but I don't think it will sell in a day......I couldn't be that lucky twice!!! Lol

  16. I have owned mine from new. Just over 7000 miles. I reckon 20k ish is what it would fetch with current market.
No, I wouldn't sell for that. I hate to see you stuck with the hard decision at this point, but now is not the time to
make any real money on the Bayliss. 5 yrs more minimum before they start to get an interesting return.
Fuck Sheffield. They are skewing the prices of everything.

  17. The good news is I'll probably be selling mine (1098R) soon. I'll guarantee prices will rocket shortly after. Happy days :):upyeah:

  18. So taking into account what @Exige has estimated market value would be if he were to sell one of his, what do you guys think is a fair/reasonable price to ask before I final drop it into Stoke Ducati?
I'm thinking £25k as it is with all the standard Bayliss kit plus the extras listed in the advert. Considering the condition being "mint" & mileage being 6800.
Obviously, when it goes into Stoke Ducati, they will add their cut, but will be in the position to offer finance, which at that money, would really help to sell it.
    Thoughts?

  19. Chuck on a couple of grand ontop of your top expectation to allow for bargaining down and see what the dealer says, once you've got their advice, then you can make your next decision.

If you decide to let them sell it for you, be sure you understand the terms they are offering to sell it for you.

  20. Trouble with that is it then means someone has to make a ‘cheeky offer’ a few grand off and not many will. So it will appear expensive imho. I’d go £500 more than the least I’d take and do a deal with the shop to price what they want and keep the difference.
