Approximately 1350 world wide including the 500 Bayliss reps. About 115 (non Baylis) in the UK of which 100 were pre registered by Ducati UK to homologate the bike for the BSB. No idea how many left although we have over 20 forum members who own one. I think we have 3 or 4 Bayliss rep owners. Ignoring the kudos of owning one, it is an awesome bike to ride. Andy
I've an e-mail from Ducati confirming 1,373 + 500 Bayliss, Andy. Well, they confirmed 1,373 by mail when I asked the question. When I replied asking if the Bayliss bikes were included, Fabiana rang me to tell me thet these were additional to the 1,373. There is a possibility she lost something in translation, but I did ask her twice on the phone. Probably more because I love hearing her accent.
We discussed this earlier this year and I was sure the 1373 included the Bayliss reps. Mmmm, I'll have a poke around. Andy
Just been back through previous posts and interestingly this contradicts two very clear statements that the 1373 includes the 500 Bayliss reps made by someone who had spoken to and exchanged emails with Ducati earlier this year. Someone called Robarano . Andy
Liar, liar, pants on fire ! But you've got me thinking now. I can't remember if this included the Bayliss bikes. I think maybe it did. I need a lie down. Dig the post out. http://ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/1098r-prodiction-numbers.39074/
Got it, you were right. I respectfully recind my previous comment. It appears they produced 1,373 1098r's including the Bayliss bikes. As proved by errr..........me :Hilarious: Hey my bike just became a bit rarer. I remember now at the time thinking they were rarer than a Desmo. What a dingbat ! I should never have doubted you Andy.
Does this 1098r at Moto Rapido look like a good proposition..all you clever bods in the know ? I take it, it should come with the Termi Exhaust & ecu? 08 DUCATI 1098R 1198CC | eBay
Talk to George or Andrew, the bike has the original system and the 70mm system fitted is a titanium Akrapovic. Having had the valves and belt service (early) IMO it's a good bike. I believe supplied by JHP. Every time I go into the showroom, I have to remind myself that having two would be greedy. Andy
That is my understanding from what Robarano has been told by Ducati. With the 800 broken for parts by that ebay guy in Leicester, that's only 73 left . Andy
must be some prototypes about as well. no doubt fabiana will never admit to that... is far as i know from the same bird 500 TB's were on top of 1400-odd standard 1098R's no idea how they count but i have had 3x different numbers of production on 1198R from 3 different people @ Ducati ( fabiana was one of them and she come up with number 70 which suited me most, so i stuck with that one)
