Bit of a statement of intent along with possible help and advice.... Back at the time of my sticky at the top of this sub-forum - one of the (well at the time it was two, upgrades) was a couple of goodies from the Factory pro shop....namely the ceramic bearing and the return spring....back then, the return spring got lost in the post so that never got fitted. On the back of my starter motor job being successful and getting a good seal and fixing the oil leak at the same time, my gear change has become a little "mushy" but i will add that i never touched any of the gear mechanism while i was in there...didnt have to as the work was at the front to do with the starter removal. Anyway...i think im gonna have to be in there again so ive ordered the spring....75 fucking quid (which was one of the reason why i didnt up til now) one of these.... http://www.factorypro.com/Install_p...all/Install,CENTERING_spring,Duc,MTS1100.html Ive never had the gearchange mechanism out before but it looks from what i remember reading that the removal and re-installation has a few variables of asjustment....could anyone offer and links or advice on the removal (i think the spring installation itself is pretty straight forward) - but theres some sort of adjustment protocol for setting it up... Cheers to anyone that takes a stab at it... Edit: Ugh - just noticed the flywheel has to come off....180nm to retorque
Thanks keith - was watching the picture walkthrough...must confess it does look like the sort of thing id fuck up and never get right again!
Just watched the vid.....hes chasing a half mm adjustment....hmm not sure if i can tackle that.....have to watch it a few times...!
You just centre No 16 in number 23 first. Then you set No. 14 with the setting tool. Draper sell the tool for about 13 Quid. It's not a hard job.
Lol - you wait!! thanks for the direction though....ill have to think about it as im ok with getting the part out....but, gettings the adjustment (which looks like it has to be so, bang on its untrue) is where i might fall over... Edit: which tool?
