1198s Is Embarrassing Me!

  1. Thanks Chris, i did have a hunt but couldn't find anything off the shelf. Have you heard of some ECU's not being able to connect to?

  2. More often than not, non-connection is usually a lead problem. I always recommend FTDI chip leads. There is another lead with a WinChipHead chip that requires a modification. You can tell them apart as the LED on the WinChipHead illuminates when you plug it in to a USB port. Without the mod the lead will not work with JPDiag.

  3. I uses a really cheap Android tablet from ebay, which runs the Tuneecu app perfectly. Can't recall which type of leads I have but they work just fine.

    Where are you based Pavey?

  4. I bought a recon Hudl 2 for the exact same reason but have never been able to connect it. I'm hoping it's my cable (have ordered another) rather than the ECU, although i have a spare of those too (which wouldn't connect, so the common denominator is the cable).

I'm 10 minutes North of the M25 J23 (South Mymms).

  5. If I wasn't going to be away in Alps, I'd suggest popping round and I'd do it for you. If your still fecked on my return nxt Tues then my garage is free for an ecu TPS reset. J6 M25

  7. OK pal. I'm a bit too far for you to call (Manchester).

Let me know if your new cable doesn't work. :)

  8. If you are using JPdiag, Scan5MX or TuneECU I think you are wasting your time. These are all intended for use with Marelli ECUs, the Panigale uses a Mitsubishi and I think only the expensive Rexxer or hard to find MultiToolTB will talk to it.

  9. It's an 1198S so IAW5AM ECU

  10. So it is. Must pay attention :dizzy:

  11. New lead and i have connected.

Im using Guzzi Diag, have reset the TPS under the Actors page (see attached). There is also a setting called Stepper (idle control) which sounds like it may help my cause of high idle. Have pressed the start button on that and it seems to be taking an age, am i supposed to receive a pop up once it is done - it dd so on the TPS reset?

  12. On this page, before i reset the tps it was showing 5.30 under throttle, now half that.

  13. Notice my Ecu also says Chris W on it, he is in my bike! That explains the voices......

  14. 2.6= TPS reset

The Idle stepper tests the ICV when the engine is running. It should increase rpm for a moment.

    Be afraid, I am everywhere!!

  17. Like a new bike this morning, idled beautifully.
Good job really as I went through the City at 7am and got stuck at every light.

  18. 2.6 tps is about what i get on my contraptions.

  19. What does the 2.6 actually relate to? Why is n't it zero for example?

  20. It's degrees of rotation. The TPS puts out a voltage depending on the position of the throttle. The ECU needs to know where fully closed is. If you put a meter on the TPS you would see either a low or high reading (we are talking up to 5v). The 999 TPS works low V to High V on the TPS (closed = low, Throt Wide Open = high) whereas the 1198 works closed = high TWO = low. The TPS only rotates to about 85 degrees for TWO.
