1199 1199 Valve Timing

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Hootsmun, Sep 12, 2021.

  1. Hi all,
Looking for some guidance on the EXACT position of the opening and closing lobes, when measuring valve clearances.

I’ve searched and watched all the vids there are, but am still a little confused on the closer positions when measuring clearances.

ive measured when the straight edge of the closer is level with the casing, using a couple of set squares. I’ve also measured when the straight edge is almost vertical to the casing, just before the decompressor cam lobe on the opener lines up with the stamp marks on the cam caps. There’s a very slight difference in measurement (0.03 to 0.04mm) between the two. The larger measurement being when the closer lobe straight edge is vertical.

I’m totally ocd when it comes to this, so can someone help me out here please???
It’s doing my head in !!!!!

    many thanks
    Cheers
