Having got a 2014 skyhook and wife not really getting on with it, it will be the base model for me, excellent reviews, good value and been good enough for me for the last 30 years so going back to old school. Can live without the gadgets, led lights would of been good though.
Same here. Pick up my base model on Saturday. Just the heated grips for me I've got active suspension on the S1000R and I can do without it. Will only miss the quickshifter. I use the cruise control all the time on the BM, so I'm glad that comes as standard. Got my 1st service booked for the 22nd May, the day before I tour Scotland Couldn't get them to throw in the 1st service though
Had a good look at base and s side by side today, the only real visual difference is the brakes the standard model is running the same brakes and discs as the old model, the s is running the same set up as the panni, not sure why ?does the base have cornering abs ?if not thats a bit of useful technology its missing,if that is the case i will withdraw my statement and go for the s.But in total reality i am sticking with my pp as its now used for just 2 up duties.
So this bike has ,dsp, dvt, abs,tc,dwc, rbw, tft, dtc, led, dms,cc,dcl, sssa,am i missing somthing ? and the base is 3kg lighter
Rode the Base model today and, if I didn't already own a Multistrada, I would have bought it in a heartbeat. The big difference from my 2012 S is the engine, it is much smoother and more tractable around town and still has loads of midrange (I was restricted to 1/2 rev range). Other notable differences are, the brakes are much better, the ride is good but not as supple as the Ohlins on my S, the cruise control is excellent, the switchgear is more robust. However the windscreen is still not great and the LCD screen doesn't have a clock. It is more refined and less visceral than the 2012, whether that is good or not depends upon you. I won't be rushing out to change but at some point in the future I probably will, it is still a great bike.
It must be either well hidden or in a mode / screen that I was not on. The important stuff was well displayed and overall the screen was very good.
