1260 1260 Grabby Clutch

  1. Question for the Multi Massive!

    the clutch on my recently purchased 2019 1260 is a bit grabby when I’ve not used it for a few days when first pulling away, after that it’s fine. Bike has done just under 12k miles, full Ducati service history and clearly very well maintained, it’s mint.

    any thoughts on cause?

  2. There should be absolutely no reason based on age or mileage that the clutch is worn. My 1200 is still going strong with over 50,000 miles on it. Your symptom sounds similar to an issue we had with the Scrambler Icon which eventually needed new springs and a replacement Belville washer. Same mileage but 3 years older. Probably worth stripping the clutch down for an inspection and your dealer can also check the start up oil pressure in the clutch. Andy

    I will say, I have the 1200R Monster as well and assume the clutches are similar, the monster clutch is a bit nicer all round, for the first couple of weeks, stalling the Muttley was quite common…
     
  4. My 1260 clutch can be grabby first thing after starting up. I'm aware of it and just give a little more throttle and slip the clutch a little more when pulling away for the first time. After that the clutch behaves perfectly.
    I put it down to clutch drag caused by cold conditions, and it is not really an issue.

  5. I totally agree with the above. My 2018 1260 with 20k miles was the same. If I started it from cold and pretty much rode it straight away the clutch was very grabby. Let it warm up a little until the revs drop to standard and it was fine. I did bleed the clutch and on reflection I think that made a positive difference.
