1260 1260 No More

  1. They order what they think they need for the year and once their allocation is gone then it’s gone.

  3. The key phrase there is “if they can” and if they can’t then there will still be a glut of cheap 1260’s around.
If your lucky enough to keep your job then a recession/depression is great if you’ve got the money to spend. After the financial crash 12 years ago I never had so much disposable income, my mortgage rate went from 6% to 0.6%, not going to have such a vast effect this time as rates are still very low and cheap tracker mortgages are a thing if the past but the cost of living is cheaper too?

  4. There's going to be cheap 1260s around anyway, at least in the USA. I only bought my 1260 new due to impatience, but I could easily pick up a 2018 or 2019 leftover for a huge discount. There are still 1200s leftover brand new in the showrooms over here.

  5. There will be opportunities for those that have been prudent and are not up to their necks in debt.

  6. We are all adults and know what is going on in the world, its a bike forum, a way of escaping doom and gloom and your original post was well, doom and gloom, if you are up to your neck in it or job is on he line then you wont be looking at spunking 20k on a bike :)

  7. You are absolutely right and this is a motorcycle forum. As such, I'm not too sure about us being all adults. ;)
However, this is a bike topic as we are discussing the implications of future 1260 /v4 sales and what could have an impact on such. The covid thing is the pin that burst the debt bubble. That will pass in time. A slowing economy following decades of debt indulgence is simply a re-balance. It's not doom and gloom for those that have been prudent with the use of credit. There will be positive opportunities. :)

  8. Not just bikes, but I wonder just how many vehicle manufacturers are watching to see if there will be a big pcp surrendering of products and if there is, will they use that to either delay newer models for a year or two or just push ahead with newer models but in limited numbers?

  9. Car Manufacturers (Marketing companies) are estimating 80% return sales in Q3 and 90% in Q4..... personally I think that is optimistic

  10. At Ducati prices, how much extra for a big service including valve clearances? Even IF access is reasonable, I bet there is a bigger hit. Sold my twinspark 2013 at 15,000 miles, was expecting a service bill for 8-900 quid. Done 20k on the GS and never had a service cost of over £350, has been a nice surprise tbh.

  11. That’s happening anyway, there are fields full of pcp cars returned after their term valued less than the agreed trade in. It’s a flawed system if you ask me. I’m not sure in the small print, I presume you can return them before the end of contract but with penalties. If people can still afford the payments then I guess they would carry on and then chip in again for new, it’s probably cheaper than taking out a loan to finance the balance? But again the flawed system might mean your payments on your new pcp will be more than your old one?

  12. BMW Motorad web site quotes 5 year/30,000 mile service on a boxer (GS) at £1199. Better start saving now. Andy

  13. Still less than two times £800 by my calculations....

  14. I must admit I quite fancy a 1260 Enduro... not really too fussed about the V4. 1200S is fast enough for me if I'm being honest with myself.
