Rainman I get what you are saying about old style cables. I would have been one of those that took out virtually all the free play, whilst also checking it lock to lock! Some people like free play, I personally never have. On the Multi the free play being taken up by the spacers in no way interferes with the ride by wire system, they simply take up the slack on the throttle twist grip in it's housing. In doing so I cannot see that it affects anything else. I suspect Ducati put in the free play because there is nothing to adjust, and a bit of free play is the norm. It seems from the reviews I have seen that as I originally said, the spacers make the initial control of the on/off of the throttle smoother. That is what I am looking for and hoping the spacers will give me when I get them. I can understand you not wanting to make them though for the reason you gave.
