1260 1260s Throttle Or Acceleration Issue

  1. Hey chaps I wonder if anyone has experienced the following and has an idea what might be causing it... My Multi 1260S has - for some time - had an issue where upon trying to accelerate reasonably rapidly, the twist of the grip does not correlate with the acceleration, and indeed it seems to hold the revs back. Most dangerous when trying to overtake something long!

It's been on the diagnostic and nothing found. I don't think it's TC or WC, but that's sort of what it feels like, but it's very smooth - it just doesn't rev much or pick up throttle very fast, sort of holding revs around 5k. It does pick up speed, just slowly. But then this issue disappears again and all is fine and she accelerates hard as it should. Happens in all modes. Sometimes it happens, sometimes not... Weird, huh?

It does need a service, so I'm not too worried (Ducati can look at it properly), but in the meantime I'm planning several rides... Is it the ECU telling the engine to be careful 'cos it needs oil or something v simple like that? Is it a wonky TC sensor? Answers on a postcard.

  2. Check the exhaust EVL valve is not sticking, it’s a common fault if you are running the standard exhaust and Cat, it’s cable operated and under spring tension, make sure it moves freely both ways, and free off if not. It’s located in front of the silencer on the Cat, you will need to take the exhaust cover off to see it

  3. I concur with @Boomer. If you find that the valve is stuck, as a cheap and effective fix, you can disconnect the cable and wire the valve open. Either fit a spring to the disconnected cable so that the driving motor feels some resistance or fit a Healtech ESE. This will prevent the error message appearing on the dash.

  4. You can remove the butterfly valve in the exhaust with a dremel, no need for a healtech if the cable and spring still works, saves a few quid.

  5. I did this with my first mts 1200 S, sounded great too.
