  4. Hi Rob,

    Love your work / posts

    A bit of advice if I may, just bought my daughter her 1st car, really nice condition Corsa (white), have noticed looking close at the paintwork there’s very small pin prick size black marks “road grime ?”.
    Also looks like there’s been some bird poo left on a area of the roof line, I got rid of some of it with ye olde T cut but there’s still a light grey haze.
    I’ve always used Auto glym but what would you suggest to use for a deep clean and top coat protection ?
    Thanks

  5. The very small pin prick marks are Metal shards which have started to rust. ( Iron Contamination - they look like tiny brown dots )....Black larger dots are tar and both need to be removed.

    You need to thoroughly wash the vehicle first..( no wax infused shampoo );

    Bilt Hamber Auto Wash is amazing stuff....

    Its highly concentrated so only 10-15ml in a bucket.

    Then remove all the Tar with Gyeon Tar;

    Then remove all the tiny brown iron particles with Bilt Hamber Korrosol;

    http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/bilt-hamber-korrosol.html

    Bilt Hamber korrosol comes pre-diluted to the correct strength for safe exterior use. In all cases, wash and rinse the surfaces you are going to treat in the normal way. Next, working on 3-4 panels at a time, spray Bilt Hamber korrosol on liberally and allow 3-5 minutes for it to work; during this interval the initially transparent solution will gradually turn a deep red as ferrous compounds and sintered iron particles dissolve into solution (this effect can be very pronounced, but don't panic because it's quite normal and to be expected).

    Then I would recommend Bilt Hamber Cleanser Polish;

    http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/bilt-hamber-cleanser-polish.html

    For best results by hand, it should be applied to freshly washed and decontaminated paint using either the supplied applicator pad or a Lake Country Hydro-Tech Polishing Hand Pad. Only 3-4 pea-sized drops of product are required per panel, and these should be worked in using light pressure to produce a film that should then be allowed to dry for several minutes. Once hazed over, this film should then be buffed off carefully using either the supplied buffing towel or a PB Super Buffing Towel.

    Then apply 2 coats an hour apart of Bilt Hamber Double Speed Wax; ( AMAZING stuff for the price )

    http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/bilt-hamber-double-speed-wax.html

    Bilt Hamber double speed-wax is, to all intents and purposes, virtually detergent-proof, and typically lasts for upwards of six months at a time, even on vehicles that are foamed and washed on a frequent basis. Unlike many paste waxes that contain a high concentration of carnauba, Bilt Hamber double speed-wax is fortified with state of the art hydrophobic polymers, which cause rain and road spray to bead up and roll off quickly. This not only looks great, but also tends to wash away fresh contaminants, giving a partial self-cleaning effect. Bilt Hamber double speed-wax is easy to apply and contains no abrasives or cleaning agents, meaning that it can be layered successfully for even more protection.

    With regards the bird poo on the roof....this will have eaten through the clear coat as bird poo is highly alkaline....you could try to gently heat the area affected with a heat gun.....you will see the etching disappear as it warms up....if it does not fully remove with heat it has etched too far down and the only way is for a pro to wet sand the area.

    I hope the above is of some use to you....Ditch the Autoglym buddy.....Cheers
