  1. Totally different ride doesn’t seem fast maybe because your not ragging the arse off like the Gixxer

  2. No the 899 doesn't have a slipper as standard bradders

  3. That’s shit then. I could have sworn the one I had at Silverstone did. I just threw it down gears and didn’t need to blip

  4. It has engine braking control, which “should” temper your down shifting, but it isn’t great. It’s not CBR600rr levels of skipping if you go down the box aggressively but it definitely isn’t as good as a proper slipper clutch on other bikes.

  5. My old zx6r had a slipper clutch and i really thought i would miss having one on my 899 when i brought it. Truth is, honestly, i havent noticed much of a difference. The gearbox and gear changes are so smooth and direct that unless you are a complete numpty and dont know what your doing, i dont think you will notice much difference or have a issue.
So the big question is...who wants to buy my bike then? :joy::joy:

  6. Not an issue on the road at all.

Just if you are a track Mong like me, who gets too excited to rev match and race the clutch.

  7. It must be working somehow, like the cheaper anti hop clutch (apc?) on monsters and some other bikes. Otherwise, 5th to 2nd will make the bike weave at the rear going fast into a roundabout or track low speed corner. I, guessing engine braking is what’s used to temper it, if its adjustable/ ie lots of engine braking = rear end lock up, no or little EB = rear wheel keep spinning and hydraulic clutch kicks in

  8. Yeah that is the case.

The plaudits for the 959, said that with this diminished engine breaking you could hold more speed at corner entry and (I.e. lose less speed) and therefore bag faster lap times.

Hasn’t really affected my Sunday morning rides.....

  9. 899 is a girls bike, they don’t usually ride hard enough to need a slipper. Only the bigger blokes bikes need one . . .
