450 Mile Paul Smart For Sale

Discussion in 'Ducati Bikes For Sale' started by SP4S, Oct 12, 2014.

  1. Thanks for all yr responses. Is anyone a member on the US based forum Ducati MS I believe? As a link to the sale might help as I believe the Americans are very keen on the PS replicas.

  2. Easy to sign up for .ms and they're very knowledgable about the SC range too, including current prices.
While I think there's a possibilty you may get close to a dealer price asking above that is a bit wistful I think, after all dealers are obliged to include things like rudimentry sales guarantees etc. which as a private seller you dont need to.
Most buyers these days will be fairly savvy on the details too so one look at those tyres may be a haggling point for a start.
Good luck with your sale though.

  3. £17k what planet are you on

  4. i have no idea what its worth, looks like it was built by the MZ cafe racer designer to me but ive seen other relatively hideous bikes go for lots of money so i guess theres a market of sorts for this kind of stuff.

Needs to have been owned by a pop star or something id think, are you famous perhaps?
    First ever escapee from broadmoor?.

    ermm..

  5. As I mentioned in an earlier reply, I'm seeking fellow members advice as to selling price more than anything. The £17,000 was just a ball park figure in comparison to dealer prices/mileage etc, and I should have made it clearer and asked if this was reasonable as a selling price.
Many thanks to all those members that have taken the time to respond to my post, all the advice regardless of what side of the fence they been on is greatly appreciated.

  6. Sat on Italia Moto's PS yesterday and it felt like being back in the 60's, too Nortonified for me. £15000? Would rather go forward and have an 1199s.

Re: price ,there have been some very honest replies to this thread which leaves me feeling that this is a very tight end of the market and almost specialized and as such I think it is going to be suck it and see what happens. Be nice for you to inform us of how the sale goes.

Oh, and by the way, I still think your missus is a peach and no before you ask, I am not going to stop leering at her!!:D

Thanks for yr message, I totally agree with you it is a very specialised market and therefore looking for the right buyer.
I do genuinely appreciate all the comments that have been posted as they give an indicator to the price and saleability of the bike.
As for my missus, when you say peach, are you referring to her in general or her 'peaches' lol
I wish she was my missus, I wouldn't spend so much time on bike forums if she was indoors. The real 'missus' just laughs and calls me a perv for having her pic as my avatar.

  8. If italia moto bike is 15k, which will come with warranty!!
I would think you will need to price it lower for a private sale !!

  9. Stick it on ebay with a £15k reserve, the bids will give you an idea of what potential buyers are prepared to pay.....probably the wrong time of year to sell. They're still fetching strong money in Europe so you may get lucky.

Personally I think the whole SportClassic market is starting to weaken, they still sell but not at the stupid money 12 months ago.

  10. So called 'specialist market bikes' will sell and maintain all year round saleability - Snells appear to have just sold their 2nd gen 999R in 3 weeks unless they just took it off Ebay - and were asking £14K with I thin 8000 miles if I remember correctly.

  11. ah,, that rear Pirelli takes me back a bit

  16. May I ask what makes you believe your bike is worth £2k more than the one from Lincoln? Mileage is similar, condition actually looks better on the dealer bike, and it has a termi fitted.

A dealer provides funding options, warrenty, p/x and backup after a sale. For these perks people are happy to pay a premium. So if you was in the market to buy would you even consider your bike?

Traditionally private sales are priced below a dealer price. So at even 15k the dealer bike would still be most people's choice. Bearing in mind there would probably be some wiggle room in the price too. So then the next question would be how much less would it need to be to make the risk /hassle of a private transaction worth it. Maybe £1-2k I'd guess.

I'm not having a go , but just trying to inject a bit of realism into the situation.

Thanks for yr message mate, as a result of the feedback and messages posted i totally agree that it is in fact NOT worth more than the one in Lincoln, so will test the waters when i list it on the Bay of doom.

I know yr not having a go, i see yr comment as constructive and very helpful.

    Regards

  18. Ill leave her out in the cold for a few minutes, that will pert her up a bit.

  19. One option might be to see if a dealer is interested in a sale or return deal?

I'd also try the bike specialist in Sheffield. A guy called James I think his name is , and he buys nice stuff. He might make you a good offer.
