748/999 Build

Discussion in 'Builds & Projects' started by Russ21, Oct 20, 2019.

  1. Mounting brackets made and bonded in to the head light bucket for the 999 dash fixing points. Used aluminium sheet for the brackets (didn't go down the 3d printing route this time) which were bonded in place then skinned with CF. Used rubber mounts for the dash to help eliminate vibration.
I found the CF round the original head stock mounting point very weak on the headlight bucket, so beefed the sides up with a few layers of CF sheet and re-drilled the fixing holes. Its now much more solid.

Next on the list is to get the thing serviced (inc belts) and started...

  3. Spent some time threading the 999 loom through the 999 battery box and getting the ECU etc mounted. Had some help from the 999 guys on this forum. Which made things 100% easier. Going in blind would of been almost impossible. Need to order some new battery cables, starter solenoid, then it can all go on the bike.

  8. Thought I would revive this thread. The bike is still not finished, and not started. Its been with my mechanic pal, waiting for him to plug it all in and fire it up. I could of plugged it all in myself and struggled (no idea where to start) but though it best to be left with someone who knows what he's doing lol. I know my limits!

Picked up a lovely set for 748R 15mm offset discs from @Android853sp the other day. Lovely chap and a great price. Been chatting to Tom Irvine for a few little bits n pieces im after, but next on the list is to see @TelRobinson for some fairing. Ill soon have all the parts I need to finish. It'll just be a case of putting all the pieces in the right places.
