  2. I may have a set. I’ve just fitted carbon fibre BSTs to my bike so I have a pair which are looking for a home.

    They are red though......

PM me if you’re interested. They’re in north London but could be couriered :upyeah:

  3. I’m pretty sure both legs have corrosion already set in. I know one has for sure. I’ll check the other today

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  4. Hmmm, I’m being quoted €1/bolt or nut here, with well over 100 to do that’s working out much dearer than Pommes Frites in a 3 star Michelin restaurant. :(

  5. Chuck them in the deep fat fryer - bingo, pommes bolts :upyeah:

  6. sounds expensive.. had some done, a good few years ago mind, and it was a fraction of that... big bag of bolts and bits for 20 quid...
the plating kit i got cost about a hundred quid (cheaper are available) and will do thousands of bolts (depending on size !) from what i understand the solution last for years and its only the zinc anodes that need replacing...

  7. :)Quick update from today.

Removed the front end, swingarm and lifted the frame off the engine and gave it a jolly good clean up. It’s now ready for a check over, new belts and a service

Decided to have the frame powder coated red (RAL 3001) rather than have it repainted bronze. I wanted to keep the frame original and keep the bike close to standard as poss, however (as most project go) I’ve decided to go down a different route. The bikes a ‘Bitsa’ and I guess it gives me a little artistic licence to things a little differently.

Thanks for all the comments and interest in the project.

I’ll post pics of the frame once it’s back. Looking forward to start getting things back together soon

  8. Great job there Buddy :upyeah:

Love watching these projects progress. Good choice of frame colour too. Will you go with black for the 5 spokes?

  9. Watch out, some ral reds come out orangey.

  10. Yeah, I’ll have the wheels coated black. Currently red, so will need sorting at some point.

  11. I did read that some come out a little orangey. Hopfully it be ok...

  12. Thought I’d whip the clutch cover off and take a look and see what was lurking underneath. Inspected the belts too. Don’t look too bad considering they’ve been on for 10 plus years lol E91BCDF1-AFAB-41F9-A2F9-8410FB11899C.jpeg 89895AEC-117E-4E7F-A0C1-D8F6C81C58A5.jpeg

Has anyone on here repainted the swingarm back to original colour before? I’ve seen loads powder coated black, but not seen any repainted the factory grey.

  13. Spent most of Sunday cleaning up the 55mm Termignoni exhaust system. The system actually came off my 748 race bike back in 06/07. I used the ‘Harpic toilet bleach’ trick on the pipes to remove any stains and surface imperfections, then rubbed down with a scouring pad and polished with Autosol. I wasn’t after a mirror finish, just a cleaner looking set of pipes. 0FA547CB-B09A-4DB3-AD6D-1EEB92564E42.jpeg 3584F609-4542-41D0-B6D4-95290EFBB8AA.jpeg

I also stripped the rear swingarm down, degreased and got ready for re-coating. It’s in a really sorry state. Don’t understand how people let their bikes get like this...

Also stripped the damaged Pazzo leaver from the Brembo MC and cleaned it all up. I’ll replace with the standard Brembo MC leaver. Not a big fan of aftermarket leavers.

I’ve had quite a productive weekend. Still plenty to crack on with. Hopefully get the frame back this week from powdercoat :):upyeah:

  14. A productive weekend alright!
Exhaust came up a treat. I prefer that sort of satin shine as apposed to a full on mirrored finish.
Look forward to seeing the swingarm when it’s finished.

  15. I’m the same, not a big fan of mirror polishing. It sometime makes things look a little cheap. Looking forward to getting things back together.

I’m thinking of buying an ultrasonic cleaner for all the bolts and fasteners. Can anyone recommend a good one?

  16. Had a few hrs spare this afternoon/evening so decided to start cleaning up some bolts. Used white vinegar and bleach to help shift the 22 years of dirt and grime. I’ll get the remainder done then start yellow zinc plating.

  17. I took a load of parts down to my local platers, Derby Plating, they specialise in retro projects. they have a minimum charge of £45. I had mine done zinc and clear. this way you don't have to bother cleaning them as that is part of the process.

  18. The cleaning is a real pain. It’s worth paying for just to avoid that :joy:

  19. Deffo, you can take them straight off the bike to the players. This lot cost me £45
