748 748 Tool Kit

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by 328isport, Jul 10, 2021.

  1. Hi All,

Sorry bit of a geeky question, but does anyone know what tools came in the underseat tool kit from factory? I have a number of tools in mine with part numbers on but also some allen keys/spanners/screwdriver bits that I think have been added, so just trying to work out what should actually be in there!

  2. That's the full set from mine, this is the first time the tools have been out of the bag.

  7. Actually they are both the same

  8. And don’t forget the helmet holder cable.

  9. On the RHS of the picture's the comprehensive Paul Smart tool kit: unamused:, with the original 916sps / 97 on the LHS.

  10. I think this thread deserves merit more as an art theme, paying attention to choice of background/texture and colour but particularly juxtaposition and layout/positioning of tools.
Only three entries so far, hoping more will follow*. :upyeah:

  11. Here’s the tool kit supplied with a bike I had around 2001, which the dealer advised was all I’d ever need.

I’m reliably informed that dimpled surface finish on the quartz work surface in the background is created by hot rolling when the resin and quartz particles are being mixed, a feature the long haired general felt was essential.....

  12. If it helps, the MY02 748 and 748R owners manuals (page 36) have the contents listed with a diagram.

"The tool bag (fig. 24) holds:
    1)14-mm box wrench
    2)10/8/6/5/4-mm Allen wrench
    3) rear eccentric wrench
    4) front wheel spindle wrench
    5) extension for rear eccentric wrench
    6) box wrench for spark plugs
    7) tommy bar
    8) double-bit screwdriver
    9) torx;
    10) helmet cable"

  14. With the correct bag :upyeah: Andy

  15. Mine (2002 748R) seems to have acquired some extra allen keys, lost the screwdriver but has a, not very useful, solitary screwdriver bit, and my addition is the emergency side stand bypass switch :)
    Allen key rationalisation tomorrow.

  16. strong contender Neil, i like the way you have placed the smallest Allen key out of order re; size, just to throw the observer plus the two bonus additions, also the light corrosion on the 2nd to largest Allen reminding us of the Italian origins. :upyeah:
