Thanks fellas. Ive got a compression tester, do you know what i need to do to isolate ignition? Ignition pick ups? Will have to google that Was going to swap coils over from my 05 's' but the codes different, are these interchangeable? Thanks for all your help fellas, much appreciated
I think they were just redesigned with longer lead to stop so much crap getting in the front one and causing it to fail. I'd swap as a test. Have you cleaned the air filters out? New spark plugs?
Seem to remember that the only reason the codes were different was to assign one number for the front coil, the other number for the rear coil. Just a parts department thing!
When my 999 dropped into one cylinder last year, I tried replacing the front coil first but unfortunately it was the ECU at fault, so the replacement coil didn't help. While checking out coils I found that there have been a number of updates to try and make them more reliable but they are all interchangeable. So your 05 coil will work.
Just keeping post up to date. Changed both coils, coolant replaced, tank breather tubes flushed, but still doing it, maybe even more... Have switched my tank and seat over from the track bike so will test today if it's filter/pump related. Fingers crossed
Defo, has really helped me out in the past. I just tried it and its still doing it. So Its not the fuel pump or the fuel filter. I have noticed its back firing, so maybe valves or ecu or map? Thanks for any suggestions.
Update. I found the earth wire from the power commander had frayed down to 5/6 threads, so I've soldered in a new section. Would a dodgy earth reset the power commander, could it remove the map? I've just started the bike and it sounds like it might be over fuelling? I've made a short vid, it was recorded in the garage. Any ideas fellas? Before a I take it out again and it still bogs down... Thanks for any help
Maybe it wasn’t earthing properly so the PC wasn’t working? You could just take it off, and see what happens then.
Just removed it and now she wont start, got a relay clicking and im getting error codes 37.3 and 38.... Will look into imobiliser for 37.3 but not sure about 38. Good times lol
Thanks loz, Ive just been reading about it. gonna check fuses first. It ran, I then disconnected neg, removed the power commander, plugged harness back in to air box, neg back on, key in and then these errors... I must have dislodged something. Cheers guys
Right, i had a fiddle and the antenna had come part of the way down around the barrel, sorted that. Wanted to see which ecu this one had so removed batt box and found the nuts on the ecu were loose?! Especially on the earth side. So....loose ecu earth and a frayed PC earth! poor girls been suffering... Lesson learnt-just cos the allen keys feel tight doesnt mean the nuts arent loose on the back of the ecu Will give her a trial run tomoz, with out the pwr commander. Fingers crossed
Sorted!! No bogging today at all, will try the pwr com next weekend as I'm sure it must have been these dodgy earths. Thanks for all suggestions and advice, much appreciated. You've got to laugh though, halfway through a great day I noticed the clutch biting point getting closer and closer....checked fluid..yep black, new pressure plate bearing then
