888 / St4 Hybrid Project

Discussion in 'Builds & Projects' started by darko, Aug 20, 2018.

  1. Progress on the chain alignment yesterday, some extra lock washers were modified to become spacers and all good, clearance a little tight with the 180/60 Pirelli Supercorsa rear so I might need to change that for a 180/55 later on..

  2. Is a 180/55 any narrower?

  3. Apparently, the profile means it sits differently and therefore a little narrower (as well as less tall)

  4. Theoretically still 180 mm wide though, maybe worth considering a 170 tyre?

  5. It appears the 170 is no longer available (in the race tyres I use)

The chain was fitted by Jason Griffiths yesterday and he knows about tyres (Pirelli UK race manager)

He was confident a 180/55 would give a little more clearance

  6. It shouldn’t be, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t.

    Worth a punt as recommended.

  7. Every day is a school day - cheers :upyeah:

  8. I know! I wouldn't have thought that either

Right off to the garage to get a horn working to get through the vehicle test (IOM version of MOT)

Will be daytime use only but that suits me!

  15. The Brembo Front Brake master cylinder takes up quite a bit of handlebar space so, this required the stop/start switchgear to be moved to the L/H handlebar. At the same time I installed a 1098 radial clutch master cylinder

  16. Token gesture of a fairing until I sort out all the scrappy bodywork and get it repainted

  18. It’s looking good:upyeah:

  19. So, after a few niggles including warped discs the bike passed the Manx vehicle test and I have been out riding throughout the MGP / Classic TT. Even won an award at the Italian bike night which is nice!

Over the winter I will sort out a few minor issues and perhaps have a go at making an airbox although the bike runs great on the pod filters

So for now a few finished pictures..
