916 Stalling ,worse When Cold

  1. Well been a bit busy
So I replaced the ecu and eeprom today still exactly the same
Fuel filter replaced ,the pump was faulty so I had to put the original one back in

  2. So after all the heartaches your all up and running again with a replacement fuel pump,?

  3. Not yet
The pump supplied was faulty I've got to order another one and fit it

  4. Valve clearance will close up when cold and increase when hot. If they are too tight the valves won't close properly and an engine might not even start or stall. If the engine gets hot enough, clearance is restored and it runs fine. That usually happens if new valve guides and seats are fitted which aren't seated right. Engine starts off ok but soon problems start. If the fuel pump doesn't cure it I would look at valve clearance again.

  5. I thought clearances would close as they warn and expand ?

  6. They don't, its a fact.

  7. Fixed !
    Went back to basics
    Checked the charging system
Pulled every plug and cleaned the connections, still the same
Removed to clean the new crank position sensor,it had 1 metal and two thin copper spacers
I took one copper spacer off and it refitted and it cured it instantly
I assume since the engine has been completely rebuilt it must have been at the maximum clearance and after 100 miles something must have settled and the gap became slightly too much ,the copper spacer was thin ,probably 1/2 mm at most
