Hi. I have a few questions for you and dopn'tdoubt for a second that you will know the answers. 1) I own a 2001 Neil Hogeson Rep 996. The speedo glass (plastic?) has a crack in it and I have tried to mend it with one of those small bottles of wonder solution!! Needless to say it now looks like a right old mess. I have found a company on Germany who will make me a new front with some kind of clear perspex for around 15 euros which may be worth a try but can anyone tell me if it is possible or not to remove the old one? 2) If the repair to my old speedo is impossible I have found what looks like a new speedo in America with no miles on it but there is no trip knob. The seller says that if I purchase I can remove the trip knob from my existing speedo and replace it onto the new one? Is that possible? 3) when the inside of the headlight glass goes milky what is it and how do I cure it? Thanks for any help or guidance. Cheers Stan
I can help you on the headlight issue(been advised by other members and it works)i took the whole unit off(you don't have to but i found it easier) and on the right hand side lamp (as sitting on the bike)take off the bulb backing(two screws) then find a stick or suitible thingy, i used my telescopic magnet thingy and cable tied a rag on the end and put some IPA solution on the rag and clean away, then on the other side take off as other one, being careful not to damage the glass dome and there is more room, do the same but without the stick thingy, if that makes any sense. It works a treat, they look brand new!!
Hi Wayne. Lovely thanks. I did do that once a good time ago. Couldn't get the side light bulbs out and didn't want to force them but faffed and got it clean. Cheers Stan
Welcome to the Forum Steven and yes you can replace the speedo glass, there's a thread on here about it somewhere, I'll have a rummage around. EDIT : Found it - Rev counter but same principle https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/ducati-racing-rev-counter-nooooooo.61714/#post-1265421 ps. It's mandatory to post a picture of your bike with a bin in the background otherwise the powers that be will be after you
The trip zero knob is attached by a very small screw, look down its center. I have removed mine so I guess you could do the same and attach to new speedo
