999 Ohlins On 916sps

  1. How much are you offering I'd like to keep my bike as standard as poss just thought it was a straight swap silly me, these forks are in mint condition only bought them 8 weeks ago as to go onto my sps what a bummer

  2. You've had them for 8 weeks...how come you haven't stripped the old ones out and tried to fit it all together yet??

  3. As already said you can keep the standard 916 top yoke when fitting ohlins forks. Not sure if all 999 had 15 mm offset brake disks or just the ones with radial brake calipers ?.Maybe 999 owners can clear this up.

I have a set of 916-998 6 bolt pattern 15mm offset brembo racing disks but not 100% sure if im gonna keep or get rid.

Are your ohlins the earler non radial type caliper mounting or like these radial ohlins fork bottoms from a 999R bike. You will need a 999 front fender but standard plastic ones are cheap on ebay with carbon ones costing a bit more.

  4. Why.There are better parts out there that improve the bike no end.Hense ducati always bring out the new ducati performance book with new bikes to empty your wallet.

    916sps bad points-

Shit heavy wheels - lightweight ones transform bike from acceleration to braking handling basically as soon as you roll off the driveway you feel the improvement

Standard showa forks - after my 996bp ohlins r&t's on my sps feel soooo much better especially on bumpy crap UK roads.

Shit brakes - p4/34 brembo calipers or later brembo /AP radial calipers a good upgrade along with brembo radial master cylinder.

Shit clutch - STM 6 spring slipper much better.

This modified carbon dream evoluzione bike will ride much better than standard factory bike. Especially as I think it has ducati performance longer magnesium swingarm and ducati performance magnesium triple yokes with different offset.

  5. In summary - the bike's shit!

  6. Apart from the shit brakes there all the same even the new models hense the ducati performance book.

Even the mighty 996R/998R/999R/1098R will benefit from carbon wheels, rearsets, lightweight fuel tank.,EVR airbox,Ohlins r&t's, STM slipper and a big mofo akrapovic evo exhaust.

The best thing with sps/r models is the motor but even they can be improved with blueprinting and gas flow etc.

  7. Unless its knocking 230 hp on 'that' dyno before any work pmsl

  8. 998R owner improved his with a 1098 crank which ended up putting out more hp than 1098R up to 7000 rpm.Hmmm nice.

Good mods always make bike better than factory imho especially weight loss. Its good to see the new wheels on 1199 base are again shit and heavy following the tradition of shit heavy ones on previous base models.Guess old habits die hard at ducati factory as its all about the profit. Then rinsing you via the ducati performance book to get some decent spec stuff on ya bike.

  9. Plus heavy equals safe and less knobs blaming Ducati because the roads of the UK ate fooked bypotholes

  10. Lol some nice forged marchesini's would be better than that shit enkl crap they come fitted with now.Does the super leggera get magnesium as standard.Wonder how much they are in the dp book lol.

  11. Do they ...........ill have to make a note of that...:Bookworm:

  12. They are radial bottoms like in your picture

  13. I've also got the calipers off the 999 also

  14. Bikes been in storage for last 5 years Ricky thought I was going to give it up as lost a couple of friends but got back into it so doing what I can, I'm in 2 minds to keep the 916sps or chopping it in for a 1098r

  15. Matt they are the same as the ones in the picture

  16. I meant swapping it not chopping it ie trading it in if I can get a decent price for it

  17. Would you let me know when you find out what you are going to do with the discs, as I'm in 2 minds to do the job or leave it as standard I'd rather get the ohlins on if I can

  18. Yeah sorry, maybe I was being a bit harsh there. I'm sure you'll get it sorted when you are ready, no point rushing into it.

  19. Tell you the truth I've had a new starter motor fitted now the sprag clutch is gone so av just collected that waited for 8 days for that, I'm not very hands on so a garage I know is doing it for me, that's why I'm in 2 minds about doing the ohlins I'd luv to put them on though

  20. Let me know what your decision is with the offset discs that I need, appreciate your help
