  4. I read a book recently "History of Glue making", it was really hard to put down.

  5. For early SF with astonishing breadth of imagination, Olaf Stapledon. Last and First Men, and Starmaker.
    Both books took my breath away. Inventiveness in the true sense of the word.

  7. I stole a book from a pub last weekend. The burning book, by Maggie Gee.. .
    books are made to be read not sat on a book shelf in a pub for decoration.
    haven't started reading it yet....maybe never will....

  13. wish i had the time for fiction science or otherwise. read a lot when i was kid, pretty much everything from Piers Antony, a fair chunk of ye man Banks, now they're just sleeping pills for my eyes.
     
  14. Piers Anthony was amusing, did some great stories.

    Yer man Ken MacLeod is where you should go, finm. Proper, right-on Troskyite SF. Funny bloke, too, GSOH.

  16. no time these days to sit and keep my eyes open at the same time.
    other than salmond and shepherd my favorite speakers still living are jackson carlaw and michael portillo
    right on dont do it for me.

  18. My reading is mainly biogs/autobiogs. I read about music, bikes and war. Just finished The Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue. Now reading Stealing Dylan From Woodstock, to be followed by The Last Great Event, which are about 68/69 and’70 Isle of Wight festivals written by one of the Foulk brothers who put them on.
    While I was in Spain last month I read glids book Claus and Claws which is an excellent short story and very witty.

  19. Ahhh the great Jimmy Clark’s lotus.. I saw the number 6 sister car of that a few years back.. beautiful beyond belief for its age but also looked really fragile too.. back when mem were men Shepard’s were racing Drivers and racing was racing.. x
