The point is, those changes to Scottish policing have presumably been made from within, they have not been imposed on you. Has Westminster ordered the amalgamation of Scottish forces or ordered the carrying of firearms? It doesn't centrally dictate regional policing elsewhere in the UK so why should it do so in Scotland? In fact the election of PCCs was intended to democratise policing and bring accountability closer the the communities individual forces serve. Whether that has been the effect, mind you, is another matter, but I find it hard to believe that Westminster could have ordered a draconian crackdown in Scottish policing without creating an uproar audible on the south coast. If Scottish policing has taken a turn for the worst, you perhaps need to look closer to home for the causes.
its simple ....each search SHOULD be justified and proportionate, and to the tune of GOWISE... if it is, then protest as much as you like you WILL be searched with what ever reasonable force is required to achieve that aim....if its not then complain and justify your complaint with evidence and fact not just nah nah na na nah!!
Yes four legs good two legs bad The death of Boxer the cart horse will bring bring a tear to your eye
again according to my ex serving mate, it's policing by consent up here, so unless reasonable doubt can be offered you can effectively tell em to piss off. not many people now that. ordered from the top? whats the top? if you mean edinbro? doubt it.
it seems to me that, particularly in Scotland, the Education of who can search who for what would be better spent on the public so they understand the law better.....
From what I have heard, they will Taser you...........apparently even if you are blind carrying a white samurai sword (sorry, white stick)
being the cantankerous dude that i am i do. nicely of coarse. much to there annoyance. it's kinda cool having a copper mate keeping me informed on Scottish procedure, which as you know andi is different to the rest of the uk, but it's understandable that you wont know the differences.
in the context of a lawful stop search then the search will happen..... "based on the information intelligence and your actions i believe you are in possession of controlled drugs/ firearms,/ stolen property." "no i haven't, you are not searching me or detaining me for a search piss off" "oh.....ok then, off you go"
unfortunately it generally means i have to produce my docs more often than i have to, up shot gives me a chance to pop in some bills to my customers and have a good grumble.
what car docs...........is the law in scotland for stop search and producing docs all part of the same law then.......ill never understand that your right..
not being a naive teenager i don't get stopped and searched. being a garage owner and drive vehicles that dont belong to me i am often asked to hand my documents in, although i always start any copper conversation with how do mate, most are friendly but when there response is am no yer mate you just know where the rest of the encounter is going. fuck em i wont be pushed around by a mong in a uniform. any more than a mong with a swastika tattooed on his forehead
It is interesting to learn that Scottish police officers are regularly armed. The Scottish Government is very keen to ban the civilian ownership of firearms, starting with the licensing of airguns and extending by incremental steps to the shutting down of Scotland's world class game shooting and deer stalking industries which make substantial ecological and economic contributions to the country. If a crackdown on legal civilian gun ownership coincides with increased arming of the police you should draw your own conclusions.
so we have now moved from your concerns post 3 to another concern re driving docs......what else in Scottish law would you like to egxagerate Fin? You on trade plates? Always have them fitted front and rear externally??
I was stopped as a teenager, in the early 80's IIRC, by a pair of PCs in Romford, who wanted to look inside my shopping bag. They were very polite and professional. I asked them for a reason whilst presenting the bag and they responded that they were involved in a particular operation that was running at the time, words to that effect. I was sort of grateful that they were keeping us all safe. No drama, no attitude from either side and I recall thinking - Wow, these British police are good, they do their job in a friendly fashion without a lot of aggression (or firepower). A bygone age, I guess.
deffo not a policy i fully support, i understand what the large land owners do to and contribute to there local economy's
nope don't need to. although now that they don't display tax disks it might be advisable to keep em just in case.
