I normally struggle when the nights start drawing in, I have found the best way to deal with it is, if possible to get a sunny holiday as late in the year as you can end of October is still cheap ish and then you only have seven weeks or so until the shortest day on the 22nd of this month, get to that point and the evenings start to draw out I'm home and dry.
TBH, I'm not bothered. I like the seasons and winter has its compensations: I don't have much work in the garden and can do other stuff. The cold is killing the bugs. I will really enjoy spring when it comes. I might be able to play my guitar more. My bike is at the doctor's and his garage is heated. Mine isn't. I hope it stays there for months. I'll be able to go skiing soon. Christmas is coming. I like Christmas: giving presents to people, putting up ludicrous decorations, having good bottles and food, making gingerbread men and mince pies, seeing a few people. Come on, it's not that bad!
Yep...'cept mine started in mid Aug.... Winter is making it worse and very slippery. Have any of you noticed the state of the pavements these days, cars and motorbikes parking everywhere. I'm going to make a very very grumpy old man.
the weather was nice enough to take the bike out today..but i built a kitchen extension in front of the gate and the turn is now to tight to get the bike round!!! DOH!!!! tomorrow i will have to get the grinder out to cut the concrete gravel board thats at the bottom of the other gate.... did have a scaffold board that i used to use like a see saw to wheel the bike over but its gone awol... and oh yea winter sucks trying to weather proof the new roof in the dark was shit at 5 oclock
There is nothing about Winter that is better than Summer. Bikes are sorned, Winter is to be endured not enjoyed. I loathe it.
Best winter I had was when I went Skiing twice. Once at Xmas in Switzerland and again in the French Alps at Easter. Really lifted my spirits Winter in the Alps is a totally different experience. You don't suffer from SAD because the days seem longer and everything is bright and white. Hate British Winters. Short days and everything is damp and doesn't dry out. The only light at the end of the tunnel is the slow lengthening of days after the solstice. The swallows have the right idea.
you must get a lot of this. :Angelic::smileys: Upside-down rainbow spotted down-under (VIDEO) - News from uk.weather.com
he could just head to Auckland for winter.. no snow, ice very rare. crystal clear days and 10c average day time id say. cool enough to wear all ya kit without over heating.. almost perfect
This is all extremely true. Where I live it can be very foggy (it is now). But if you make the effort to go to the mountains (skiing, of course) you can have the whole day in crisp, cold bright sunshine before returning to the fog in the late afternoon. Cheers you up no end.
