i'v maintained two for a local hotelier. and funnily enough he is also an essex. an ex exotic car sales owner he uses them for ferrying his St,Bernard's around. they is shit, shit and triple shit. but they where old, and the owner is tight. the oldest one, a petrol model, was imported back from some British embassy in the far east, that's the really shit one. not for me, doing the bits and bobs on them, you can see the Victorians played a hand in their design. built for doing the miles in comfort? hmm, nah. buy a van.

According to his aunt, who I met in '76, David Gilmore's parents had one, mainly so they could chuck the kids in the back and let them get on with it.
Michael O’Leary bought his own black cab company consisting of one cab and driver. That way he could get around the city quickly by using the taxi lanes. Always thinking outside the box.
When I was in my teens driving Minis and Cortinas with mates who had similar cars; one of the guys announced hew was buying a Rolls Royce van. We didn't latch on until he appeared one day in a RR Hearse that he got cheap - he ran it everyday for about 5 years.
A friend used to do close protection for the Al Fayed family, and had an array of flash motors at his disposal, but the black cab was his go to for several reasons, discreet, excellent turning circle to spin on a sixpence, and once he'd finished his shift he could seamlessly become a bona-fide cnut of a driver and people just assumed it was normal.
I think prince William has just bought another duc. Saw a pic of him on a hyper939sp a few weeks back....while not a fan of the royals I find it mildy curious that hes got a thing for them....didn't he have an 1198 before??
There is a guy who lives in Harrogate but works in London in a black cab, he loves it up here, his child and ex wife live very close by in Harrogate, he goes to London for a few days in the cab to work then returns to Harrogate in the cab to live at his home by valley gardens, cockney paul is well known not surprisingly, a very nice chap too, and a yes a customer of mine from last year, it is the new model of black cab he runs, so if you see one in Harrogate it's probably him.
I think Fake Taxi uses black cabs, definitely that style, not sure if it’s black, the shoots are usually in the taxi
You think? I bet very few people question what you are on about....bloody internet, I remember rooting around public tips for niff mags and the catalogue bra sections....this generation don't know how lucky they are.
Speaking of research.............I just Googled it, my missus was shocked by the sounds coming from my laptop, while I was flabbergasted by the visuals.
