  4. Funny you should say that. I’ve still got a load of that stuff from the BM Heathrow warehouse in my shed. I reckon the heat must have died down by now and I could move it on. Any takers?

  5. Used to shoot a 682 gold 31" multi - sold a 687 to get it - stick with a cheap Webly Scott not - if barrel straight it still hits them :upyeah:

  6. I must admit I’m mildly fascinated with guns. I’ve often pissed about with guns. They’re cool....
My mate in Belgium has an impressive collection. He has a 7.62 SLR! Awesome thing! He took me to his firing range recently. Oh what fun we had!

  7. Standard army issue back in the mists of time. I once won the annual battalion SAM with that rifle. Could get 5 rounds in a 2” group at 100m and 5 rounds on a man size target at 800m. With a slight adaptation to its mechanism you could turn it into a full auto, although that was a waste of ammo. It was a bit unwieldy in built up areas though due to its length. You’ve taken me back in time now.

  10. Impressive accuracy. My dad was a marksman in the Royal Marines and of course the SLR was his baby.
I, on the other hand was shite from 50 metres  I need reading glasses now and the near section of the sight (small hole) was blurry to me. Not good... I fared much better with the scoped weapons :)

  11. I have a few, in fact three of them belong to other people who have asked me to look after as they no longer have a license. One of those is a beautifully made belgian Browning .22 tube mag semiauto which can be taken down in the middle in about 1 sec.
Then I have a .22 pump action winchester tube mag from 1911. Or maybe that's the model? It is very old tho but still accurate for shooting rats and rabbits outside.
Then I have a Marlin 5 shot semi.22 stainless/synthetic with a big scope for shooting possums and stoats etc at night.
And also a .243 win Ruger Mk7 stainless/synthetic for deer stalking and the like. Has now sat in the safe for a few years unfired.
Used to have a russian made SKK 7.62x39 SLR but sold it as it was useless for hunting with. Nowadays I would have to hand it in anyhow...

  14. Bloody difficult to get anything more than a .22 in rifle format now:(, seriously it'd be easier on the black market than legitimately.

  15. I once had a catapult. Does that count? Kept hitting my thumb nail with it though.......

  16. Come the revolution, anything will be useful:astonished:

  18. Crikey reading this has got me thinking of getting my license. Used 7.62 SLR in the mob. Lucky enough to get trained in proper marksmanship principles where we zeroed at 100 mtr and then shot pop up targets ranging from 100 through to 400 mtr. Then a spot of live fire close quarter battle to really focus the attention. Frighteningly accurate when you know how to handle it. Great memories.

  19. Go for it, join a local gun club, get a gun safe, then apply for the license. As long as you’ve no previous and your Dr signs you off as being of sound mind you’ll get the licence. It’s getting permission for a full bore rifle that’s the tricky bit, but a lot of fun can be had with a .22. The club I used to be a member of when I was back in the UK had a whole load of ex forces members and had built a smallish FIBUA type shooting gallery on one of the ranges hence my S&W. It was great fun.

  20. K, but I am in NZ and all the big bore stuff is no probs except now, since the christchurch mosques massacre, semiautos are much more restricted. .30 cal in all there various forms are prob the most popular. I had a mate who had a .44magnum lever action cowboy style rifle. I had a couple shots with it but it was horrible to use and good for f-all except pig shooting. Also he was not fit for purpose...

Kudos for continuing after the first time!
