Bought this 1994 Strada in 2016 for £6500, took the stickers off and a good clean and sold for £9500 6 months later. I do regret for loads of reasons, and could have got more....

  2. This is fun:
Bought, 916 strada 1996 list price. Sold in 1997 for in excess of list price. Used most of that to buy launch model Triumph T595 which after new frame, dropped the middle cylinder and went to a breaker for the equivalent of £500. Net loss around 10k.
Bought, 955 AMA superbike from Eraldo Ferraci for about 5k. Sold for exactly 30k one year later due to overseas move. Regret selling even though value is around the same today.
Bought, ex. Jorge Lorenzo 999R in 2017 at 8450€, current bike.
Bought 1098SFS in 2018 at 8300€, exchanged it a month later for 1098R + 1000€ (from me), current bike.
Bought 998 in 2014 at 4500€, current bike.
Bought 999S mono nero (factory bike not dealer special) in 2017 at 4500€ ish. Current bike.
Bought (deposit paid), V4 Speciale in 2017, cancelled order at delivery, currently awaiting return of deposit, fingers crossed.

  3. just sold my 848 with knackered engine for 2 k.
Lost a fair bit but then after much thought who wants a broken bike and I couldn’t be bothered with the rebuild.
Paid 3 k for my 998 in 2010 pretty sure it’s worth a bit more now

  4. Thank God for this thread...I've been needing counselling for 30 years and this should be it...
    BEST
Greeves Hawstone 24SCS bought 1976 £22.50 ...still got that one
    916 Strada £4700 2010. Sold for a "good" profit

    WORST
BSA Starfire bought 1979 £300 heap of shite. Sold, £150 year later
    FZ7501FN bought 2015 £200, sold 2016 £250 (pressed the wrong button on eBay (Buy-it-Now)...should've said £1250!!!!!
Various Mk1 Minis bought for very little or was given over a 30 year period...scrapped them all in 2008 when scrap was £220/tonne. I got £490...at today's values, they'd be worth about £12000.

BUT...the best one did not concern me but an ex-girlfriend's stepfather had a Ferrari 250GTO Le Mans reg number JM 265 (Google it!). He competed in hillclimbs, sprints etc and sold it in the mid 1970s for £12000. OUCH!!!!!!

  5. There's only one deal that haunts me, if I say it out loud I may exorcise the demons, 2000 748S Monoposto, Gold 5 spoke Marchesini rear wheel, white number board, carbon everywhere, Carbon Termi's, bought and sold for sub £4K. I wish i could remember the reg number to see if I could track it down.

  6. I'm pretty sure it began W816 as I remember thinking at the time another digit would have been cool....

  7. CX500 Paid £500 - Sold £1200
    AJS paid £1200 - Sold £3200
    Citreon Van £1200 + £700 service / repair AGR valve... Sold £7000
