Just after a bit of advice really about wear on std clutch baskets. Since having an open cover I can see that the plates have slightly worn into the basket itself. It's done 16000 miles so I'm guessing this is quite normal but my question is do I replace it and if so any recommendations for a replacement? Cheers
Nah! don't worry about it, I'm still running the original basket, centre and plates on my 02MY 748. It's got just over 24K miles under it's belt. Of course it rattles and bangs like f**k but it works fine and doesn't slip so why worry?

1) when the basket and hub wear, and the noise gets louder, as the clearance gets bigger, the battering causes accelerated wear 2) If you try to replace the disk pack, because in total the new one is wider (installed height) the tabs wont match the grooving which has come from the previous worn pack, this affects clutch operation 3) For many reasons, dont leave the bike idling to warm up, with a warn pack the increased rattling is just bashing the shit out of your basket and hub 4) Start your bike wait for oil to the vertical head, then ride gently for a rapid warm up, your engine will last longer. 5) note the clutch wear starts slowly then accelerates as the wear clearances increase 6) buy hubs and baskets with gray, green, black anodizing, possibly hard anodizing; Red, blue silver as far as I know are only decorative (bling) 7) buy a slipper and learn how to set it up? 8) when at the lights hold clutch in; reduces noise, battering, and damage to clutch
sorry, but my opinion, dont spend money on carbon and Polish spend it on making your bike as mechanically fit as possible, first? oil before paint glaze?
To be honest, for road use a slipper clutch probably isn’t worth having so a standard or aftermarket basket is what I’m after. With it being my first Ducati I wasn’t sure on who’s to buy. Cheers
