Quick question. Ever since I had the bike I’ve struggled with battery maintaining any charge. I know the reason, it’s due to the BikeTrac device which was fitted from new. That isn’t supported any longer (due to being sold old) so essentially it’s just drawing / sucking power. Despite the bike (usually) being connected to an Optimate, it’s fried the battery over time and now won’t start. New battery on the way but want to disconnect the tracker. I don’t know how it’s wired in (or even where it is). Can anyone confirm on a 2016 Panigale 1299s if this is the correct stock wiring I would expect to be coming from the battery or if any of these are the likely direct additional cables which will be going to the tracker? If they are, then I can remove them direct from the source. Thank you in advance!
To my knowledge, the Bike Trac hardware has evolved at least twice and the later version I had, was installed with a wiring loom that plugged into the tracker. On the Panigale, space is limited and the black box is likely to be in the front fairing space. IIRC, permanent power was supplied from the +ve terminal of the battery so the 3A wire (not the charger pig tail) in your picture could be it. When you reconnect, leave that one off and check everything still works. One word of caution, my 2012 1st gen Multistrada used a feed from the battery for the traction/ABS so threw a fault when I inadvertently disconnected it. Andy
The wiring in your photo is all correct. The two fly leads, one with a fuse holder, will be your battery tender. The Biketrac will have two fuses, fairly close to the unit itself. Pull the fuses and it's dead.
Hi again both, Without taking the front fairing / nose off completely this is my current situation. Any of these linked to the BikeTrac or is this still stock wiring?
I have a Bike Trac unit charger in the garage, I’ll try and find it to see what the connecter looks like. Andy
This the connector, red, black, white and blue wires. Pretty sure the connector is white, this one is wrapped in amalgam tape. Andy
Yes. They are the two fuse holder and the connector to the Biketrac. Either pull the fuses or disconnect. Same result
