I saw him in Edinburgh (Tea in the Park - how fitting) about 10 years ago. He was a top dude. Not one of my very favourite guitarists, as his playing wasn't depressing enough, nor his tone to die for. But he was a top geezer, very chatty and played sitting on a chair (in his words, he'd reached an age where he deserved to sit down). Saw him and the band at the airport the next day. A sad loss, but you suspect he'd spent most of his life doing what he loved doing and that's more than you can say for most people.
did you talk to the band? a mate of mine played with him on tour around that time. louis, wee guy black hair, big nose?
Not much music in it but fascinating background. And some real characters. I got the impression those old timers were the last of the line. When they go another chapter of American culture will pass into history
No I don't think I did. I don't talk to celebrities as a rule. If I was a celebrity i'd want to be left in peace, so that's pretty much what I do to them.
lewis aint no celebrity. if your interested in music or anything for that matter he will chat. unless he's changed (which i doubt.)we shared a flat in aberdeen. he turned up at a party and never left for about a year. last seen him play in the 12bar club in London about 15 years ago. v.good guy.
