Was sent this today. Very timely... The attached short speech by Winston Churchill, was delivered by in 1899 when he was a young soldier and journalist. It probably sets out the current views of many, but expresses in the wonderful Churchillian turn of phrase and use of the English language, of which he was a past master. Sir Winston Churchill was, without doubt, one of the greatest men of the late 19th and 20th centuries. He was a brave young soldier, a brilliant journalist, an extraordinary politician and statesman, a great war leader and British Prime Minister, to whom the Western world must be forever in his debt. He was a prophet in his own time. He died on 24th January 1965, at the grand old age of 90 and, after a lifetime of service to his country, was accorded a State funeral. HERE IS THE SPEECH: "How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. That has been doing the rounds, its not a speech by Churchill at all. Its actually him recounting the rant of a young soldier who, when the train they were travelling in broke down, the driver told them that Allah may had had a reason for it...
This is sadly so very true. All the conflicts in the 3rd world you care to mention, the occupying force (often us) has severely pissed off the locals. Imperfect information, no command of the language or culture and an enemy mixed in with indigenous innocent people make for a complete fuck up. God knows what the answer is.
Thankfully, it's not my job to find the solution. But in the interest of stimulating debate, I'm sure we'd all like to hear what you have in mind to fix the issue.
I'm going to sort this shit out using the power of food, going to start a fast food chain and call it 'Allah's Snackbar' reckon that would sort these fucking thugs out.
I think they do indeed want all out war. Isn't there a prophecy about the end times battle that they want to bring about. In their delusion islam wins out of course and they all go to Paradise.
I can't see how this is all going to be 'sorted'............Reminds me of Vietnam in some ways........ ....Air strikes and bombing only interrupt the progress of IS.......... ....Boots on the ground (from which country?) will lead to more hostages being taken...... ....IS will disperse among the civilian populations and if questioned will deny their involvement..... ....The Arab / Middle East countries don't appear to want to commit much in the way of air or land forces, which considering that it is them at risk from the advance of IS, is rather surprising (actually, no it isn't). ....The UK imprisons one Serbian for three and a half years for intending to carry out atrocities, which means he will be out in one year........hardly a comparison with what IS do.
One little snippet from the news was IS have the names and addresses of all the Jordanian Pilots involved in Air Strikes and have published them. They have urged followers to kill them. I suspect burning the pilot in the cage is a vile warning aimed specifically at the Jordanian pilots and any other from the region . If there heart isn't in th air strikes it's gonna make them think twice about pressing home the attack
Historically, conflict over resources, power, wealth and ideology have been the natural state of things, we have been very fortunate to live in a time and place of relative stability. There are those amongst us who believe that we are the problem and all we have to do is open a dialog with those of differing views and all will be well; I think they are fools. The enemy will take their conciliatory ways and use it against them. Extermination of IS is the only solution. How depressing.
