  2. You haven't met most of them, they're still in York evidently :smileys::smileys::smileys::smileys::smileys::)

  3. Correct the planet will still be around, however I disagree that it will thrive.
Our collective activities are causing the biggest extinction event (Number 6) since the Dinosaurs left us.
Each time the earth has suffered, it changed dramatically. I think humans (me included) are doing very little, if any positive actions to improve on the natural world.

  4. We've possibly postponed the next Ice Age thanks to our coal fires, Ducatis and other industrial activities. I think the planet owes us, big style.

  5. The individual only matters to themselves and those around them, the planet doesn't care.

  6. what about earth mother? she cares. she told me herself.

  7. If nothing else, from a selfish point of view, do you think we should try to limit our expansion and activities until we can settle on another planet. That way we don't kill this one before we are ready to leave?

  8. Think of a few environmental activists, Bono, Sting, Leonardo Dicaprio and ask yourself how could we possibly all live our lives as they do consuming the same resources that they consume. I am happy with my lot and feel no guilt whatsoever that I am amongst the worlds top 1%, as are the majority of the people in the UK.

Nature will maintain a balance of sorts, one way or another, if we do not. However the growth paradigm seems to be hard wired into our genes, look out of the window, just about everything you see depends upon it; yet we live on a finite planet.

I do not see humans venturing to other solar systems anytime soon, if ever.

  9. so your one of the 1%. new it. you and your tory ways. :smileys:

  10. we are all special. especially you. :smileys:

  11. £48K worth of assets gets to into the TOP 10% and £550K gets you into the top 1% in the uk, so that's nearly all home owners inside the M25.

  12. How exactly did the earth suffer..? Did it get a rash?

What is happening is natural and part of the natural cycle of life. In fact If everyone and everything though like you; "I will not reproduce to save other species", ALL life would certainly die... Not that that would make any difference to anything either.

So I'm hoping that your choice not have kids had other reasons also.

    :)

  13. Hardly vast wealth if you include home ownership, similarly if you add in the value of public sector pensions.

The one major failing of all governments has been the huge rise in the wealth of those at the top, which hasn't trickled down to those at the bottom, the elites are ruling for the benefit of the elites.

  14. To not reproduce is to break what was an unbroken successful chain of evolution stretching back hundreds of millions of years.

  15. Agreed, except it's quite fat in the middle classes.
E.g. persons with £2-3M in pensions, assets, cash etc.

  16. Nope...after a lot of discussion we both felt that the world had enough people in it.
We have our passions, but babies / offspring etc wasn't one of them....sorry if it offends to be so perverse.

  17. Offends?

Each to their own, know many people how chose not to have kids which is obviously their choice and I have no opinion on it either way.

Never heard of anyone doing it so the save the earth though.

  20. Why do you say "public sector pensions"? Surely all pension entitlements could be considered as valuable assets, of whatever type.

In other contexts the same entitlements are counted as debts, of course.
