They did call it off for ground plod. If you read it, they called off the ground pursuit and stuck with a helicopter only pursuit so as not to pressure him into riding any more recklessly.
he rode from Ashington west sussex to brighton - total distance 18 miles . over the course of 3 hours . i dont think he was doing 100 mph somehow. another sensationalist article from daily mail .
Well! thank goodness, it wasn't me. It's all round my patch but most people in Worthing don't go over 20mph. Chances are he's nicked the bike in the Ashington area then gone for a night out in Brighton. They will get him unless, of course, he's gone back to eastern europe!
Pretty standard behaviour around these parts....have you been out with Da Box Hill Krew on a Sunday??
Man gets caught riding with no helmet, and it takes 7 police cars and a helicopter. If I called the police to say some scag heads were trying to break into my garage, they'd not bother even turning up
Probably because it's a lot more interesting to chase people at high speed than it is to "investigate" yet another garage burglary.
I make that an average speed of 6mph. What was Officer Dibble driving that they couldn't catch him? :Wideyed:
Remember, it is a report in the Daily Mail. Any mention of a motorcyclist under any circumstances would cause their readership to have a fit of the vapours.
I wouldnt say that but in defence of members of the public (ie us) the programs on TV these days (hard police fuckers etc etc) they do make themselves out to be driving God's.... Didn't have much problem getting past a police bmw on the mountain a couple of years back (and I'm no Barry Sheene) at the tt... And yes... I would say he was "enjoying himself...."
Before I got involved with car racing at the track. I met a guy who was police officer. He'd bought a (single seater) car to race. He told me he did one test day, said those guys are so fast it's scary, did not attempt to race again. His car went to a hire company at circuits, where it would have been de-tuned or run as arrive and drive after that. I also did advance driving with an ex police training driver years ago and he told me some police are not advanced drivers only pursuit ones? really?... but they still drive faster than the speed limit with blue lights and can decide if people are driving without due care, recklessly etc... without a better standard of driving who's to say they are not endangering public. So I assumed there must be some addition training for all Police drivers. Skid pan etc.. car control lessons as well as better hazard perception. Unless this mature retired police officer was talking about back in the day? Most people probably have little understanding of how to really drive (straight line merchants) most would likely spin if trying to drive at a good pace in the wet on the track, in my opinion that means they are not safe driving fast (above the speed limit in bad or busy conditions).
I used to be a race instructor on 4 wheels and did some driver training for the police on circuit. Horrific. They all thought they could drive, absolutely no idea. I will say the bikers tend to be good riders though.
When I was 17 I had a MK1 3.0 Capri and rightfully considered myself the dogs danglers! - all my mates had Minis,A35's,Morris 1100's etc.The local plod actually turned up at my parents house one day and asked them to hide my keys on Friday and Saturday nights as they couldn't catch me! Mind you their best cars were Vauvhall chevettes and the occasional brand spanking Rover SD1? I had a great summer tormenting them as payback for all the stops and shit they metered out to me when I was 16 on my very nifty fifty
