Will try it at the weekend, takes that long to start up again. It don't make any difference., its always about Max 7 and never above 3 for upload.
I've checked mine, running 17.8mbps at the moment with 1.5 upload, considering with BT through the same line into the house we were on an average of about 5-6mbps.
You have a cooling off period with any contract. 14 days usually and you can cancel with no penalty. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
With regards to the whole BT vs Talk Talk Vs Plus Net Vs Sky... They do come in via the same physical lines so there is no reason for any to be faster than BT. I do know that firms such as PlusNet limit their upload as a result of BT upping the price they charge for those companies to lease the lines. Other than that the only thing that may slow you down is a DNS problem, either internally on your network setup or with the provider. One advantage with PlusNet is they are so small they have not been forced to block all our illegal torrent and other download sites like BT, Virgin & Sky have. Not an issue if you use a VPN or Proxy but nice nonetheless. One other benefit is the way BT use their Openreach engineers. Any line issues and BT want to charge you a fortune to attend and fix. Switching providers to someone like PlusNet and they usually get you the engineer for free and it'll be the same Openreach engineer. I know someone who's internal house phone wiring literally melted after a lightning strike. Quote from BT was a few thousand. Switched provider, played dumb and they installed all new wiring for free. I am with BT, purely because they had a cheaper deal at the time. Once that deal is over I will probably end up with Sky as they are doing great deals on Sky Q. Just go on price, because one company offering faster speeds over the same line is BS. They should all be able to achieve it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Unplugging and plugging in again after a minute or two does help. At the sailing club where I am a member, we actually rigged up a timer to do it once a day because the bt line was so flaky. At home we are on Virgin cable and it didn't occur to me to try the same thing until the missus had trouble staying logged into work when working from home and the IT guy reported our connection was slow. It was supposed to be 200 Mbps! I checked and it was something like 4 or 5. Rebooting took it right up to 180.
