Commiserations matey...just walked in the door from attending my mates Dads funeral. His last wishes were that his kids pour a bottle of Stones Green Ginger wine over his casket as he was lowered. Hilarious!
True - sounds like you inherited your dads strength while your siblings missed out. Their loss long term. Amarone...they call Brunello di Montalcino the king of Italian wines, but a good Amarone is it's equal. Had a bottle in a restaurant in Garda a couple of months ago - it was 2008 0or 2009...16.5% yet smooth as you like. That reminds me to find out the vineyard it was from - should've taken a pic of the label.
Thinking of you and your dad Sounds like you have some lovely memories to treasure Keep those in your heart when you turn 40 that way he will be with you Life is so precious and so are memories made x
Take care Hyper, I lost my mum 15 years ago and your post made me think back to that time. Think of the memories, good and bad. I’m sure you have many of both.
It takes months or even years, but the cold feelings of loss and absence do morph into warm memories of what he said or did in circumstances, and thoughts of what he’d have said or done for you when you have new experiences or problems. Try to be gentle with your siblings as they are his too, even if they’ve an odd way of showing it!
Sorry for your loss dilders. Sounds a proper nightmare sorting it all out. Go easy on the brandy and red wine. Jesus, I'm getting a banging headache just thinking about that.
I know you have a tough day tomorrow hyper. I hope it all goes as well as such a thing can do and you both make it home safely
