for some, and I am the daft one for choosing something different. there is something really fucked up about the brits aint there. aww talk. no action.
You had the option to say no, you chose to say yes, who took it on? the Scottish devolved government at the time I know how it works, the U.K. government offered Scots a devolved government package, those seeking a Scottish devolved government took it with both hands and announced to all Scots that they were the champions who had achieved what was not there before. However since then, the snp has behaved like a spoilt child almost every single year going on about old agreements they already agreed too. God help the eu if you agree a way in, then a few years later under the snp you seek to leave that too, you're running out of organisations to join. . The snp are a party of victimhood and love to stir the pot of them and us like no other within the 4 nations. If Scotland is dragged into the eu and the snp starts doing this shit every 5 minutes it doesn't get it's own way, the eu won't tolerate that shit and then where do you go? The Scots problem isn't their nation, it's the snp
I seem to recall many Tory voters saying they wouldn't ever vote Labour, and many other Tories saying they would vote BP. TBF Nige has taken that option away from half of them. There aren't that many vocal people on this site who strongly criticise the government. Of these, most would likely be SNP or LAB supporters. Which ones do you think have changed their minds - I can't think of any.
My daughters town has a labour council, voted over two thirds to leave the eu, has a tory mp who was remain all the way through till boris was appointed and announced an election so he's now "pro brexit", voted for a brexit mep and got it, and now the general election has come, no brexit candidate to vote for under the brexit and tory "agreement". She's thinking of just not voting
Not so much people have changed their minds, I think at different points throughout the Brexit process, during ‘votes’ etc people have said they would never vote for the ‘main’ parties again.
They might be the same people who would never leave the toilet seat up, would never speed, wouldn't cheat even if a super hot naked woman propositioned them - y' know the ones...
Or people with short memories, that like the idea of free stuff for the many or think Johnson is here to save us from the mess.
Ok so now we know who they are - liars, people with memory loss, or stupid! I have left out the free stuff people 'cause that is everyone. I have never met anyone who has turned Virgin down when offerred free broadband.
That's the bit that's been missed, if the government are giving away free fibre broadband (it won't be free, new taxes will pay for it) what need do you have for virgin broadband, Sky Broadband, Talk talk broadband, Plusnet broadband, Vodafone broadband, ee broadband etc etc but more to the point if the government are the sole provider of internet services, what are you going to do with all of those employees who used to work for a company that charged for broadband but has now shut down?
Probably, I think it all goes round in circles sometimes. I can’t remember what this discussion was about originally now. edit. I think you should become a politician.
How long until all the anti immigrant brigade realise both labour and Tories have dropped plans to cap immigration to a specific number? meanwhile, they are both offering massive spending programs so the question is, who is going to do this work? Where will the workers come from that required to build all these new houses? refer to paragraph 1
There was never meant to be a defined number on immigration or targets. Open door policy meant that we had no choice in who came in, certainly in relation to europe. when we are able to control our own migration, when can custom fit it dependent on our need, think of it more like an employment agency. We have a indigenous skills shortfall say in area X, we can advertise externally to fill that shortfall. This gives us a great ability for when automation hits peak before a.i. in that we can go up one year, down the next and also allows companies to plan in advance. fixed immigration targets remove flexibility for the host nation
Noobie you are funny. Do you really think the UK Government takes immigration seriously? Its just a Brexit football. Many on here will have watched recent documentary showing how easy it is to enter the UK illegally. People have been entering the country for years unchecked, tip of the iceberg. These people do not have passports and are not EU citizens. Conservatives have been in for, not sure, ten or eleven years now. Its on their watch. Meanwhile we have employed EU nationals to fill vacancies here, if required. Sounds very like the same system with new clothes. More political shape shifting to justify Brexit, but continue doing what they were already doing.
I think you've been living in France too long JB. Uncontrolled as well as illegal migration has always been a concern, even well before brexit so your brexit excuse holds no ground. It also shows your vision is varied wrong direction Yes I did watch the documentary, no immigration system will ever be 100% airtight but that is a poor excuse for doing sweet fa. The eu nationals that are here are more than welcome, as it should be. But as they left their own country, that created shortfalls in their own countries, poland for us is the most obvious. To fill those gaps, they took in many from non eu countries, particularly from Russia, Ukraine and believe it or not illegal migrants from North Korea, On this google is your friend. Once again showing immigration is more than just about brexit and more than just the U.K. being worried about it. I will add, before brexit even happened, Germany was warned, do not bring in 1.5 million from the middle east, even more so because once in the middle of shengen, they can go anywhere they like. Germany did not listen and so began the undermining of the eu by Germanies and the eu's own actions by not listening to it's member states. If the system can now be like the australian one that will be implemented once I feel the tories get their majority back in the house, then it's a step in the right direction. There is nothing wrong at all with a nation wanting to have an immigration system that it can control itself to reduce illegal immigration but more importantly, match those we let in, to the areas we have a shortfall skills in.
