Bsb ... Can Shakey Still Do It ??

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by flymo999, Oct 4, 2017.

  1. Leon Haslam has yet to end a season as champion in any major series. Despite riding championship winning capable bikes in WSB, for some reason or other he didn't win the championship. Last year in BSB it was a broken handle bar and a fall in the wet that denied him despite leading going into the last triple header with a points lead. This year it was a poor tyre choice on Saturday, a malfunctioning clutch in race 2 and no front brake in race 3 that led to a 32 or was it 33 point lead evapourating. Got to be one of the unluckiest riders ........... or is he a choker ? Andy

  2. Feel really sorry for Leon. He doesn’t often seem to have luck on his side does he the boy. And he’s definetely a worthy champion but always seems to be the bridesmaid.

  3. Thing is, they probably have the biggest budget with the most people in the team with specialist jobs yet still f*ck up when the bell starts tolling.

The next time you mess up, just think about that :upyeah:

  4. Pbm is pretty much a full factory outfit, jg isn’t quiet in the same league from what I hear. Pbm fly tech’s in from Bologna! The bikes are built by Corse!

  5. Yep except pbm lol

But they ran three bikes last year, so that funding must have gone into Haslam effort,

  6. Lots of top riders accused of being bridesmaids. You’ve even got them in GP in the likes of Pedrosa. Unfortunately someone always has to lose out and, although It seemed to be slipping slightly for Leon this weekend, in the end it was out of his hands. Sometimes that’s just the way it goes.

Not sure which would be better, losing a championship because you just weren’t good enough, or knowing you’re good enough and being robbed by a mechanical. At least with the latter you can come out swinging next year.

  8. I thought Brooks was second and Haslam third?

  9. Yep. Bloody impressive too! No disrespect to the team but that anvil bike has never done anything prior to Brookes jumping on it. Amazing effort from both the rider and team.

  10. Especially considering his teamate finished last...well,not sure the bikes are the same specs. But looked weird to see a yellow R1 in the first spot and a yellow R1 in the last spot.

  11. And Brookes was pure class in his post race interview. Basically said it’s because of racing against Byrne, that has brought his own race craft along.

  12. I’ve got one of Shakey’s Alpine boots in a box in the garage. Might have to get it signed. Caught it when he threw it into the crowd the year Brookes done the bizzo. Got to be worth a bag of wotsits per title now

  13. I remember watching wsbk 2003 brands hatch live at the circuit when Shakey was a wild card on the Monstermob Ducati. Always remember the commentator saying "Shakey Shakey Showman Byrne doing the Double at Brands" and he goes and does it again 14 years late.

Awesome double and 6th title

Brilliant result for Shakey, PBM and Ducati.

  14. Big thing to say considering they’ve not always exactly got on!

  15. How many times has BSB gone down to the final round to be decided?
It really is a great championship from a spectator perspective - full of thrills, spills and drama!

  16. Showdown. It’ll never work :joy::joy:

  17. OK but to have 'crashed' at 172MPH must mean that he had zero brakes and zero engine braking, no? I know these guys are fast obviously but I find it hard to believe this is at 172MPH, happy to be proved wrong though:
