1200 Bst Carbon Wheels On A Multi ?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by nodrog, Mar 27, 2015.

  1. Thanks guys

  2. I had a problem with one of my carbon wheels but it all got sorted in the end.Going back to standard alloy marchesini wheels was a eye opening experience.Felt like selling the bike.

On re fitting the carbon wheels to my bike as already said handling and braking improve but the most noticeable difference is how the bike accelerates.I opted for a UK company and by the looks of it we could see carbon wheels as standard in the future.

Multimillion pound boost for Chippenham wheel manufacturer (From The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald)

  3. Good news for UK business. Prefer the look of BST tho

  4. Pleased you got sorted, that's a real good example you having to go back from carbon, thanks

  5. I have a set on my S1k, great looking, very light and strong wheels. I also use stock wheels.
Can I notice the difference when riding (on track), that will be a no.

  6. Thank you

  7. Original Pikes Peaks never came with the lighter wheels, just standard ones. Only the Skyhooks had the Marchesinis.
The only downside to my eyes is the look of the BST's big fat spokes. I like thin, spindley looking ones.
Should be dead easy to re-sell c/f rims when you next do a bike change though.

  8. Cheers ,agree re resale, probably something that would move pretty quickly if necessary

  9. Im surprised that you cant feel any difference on track. If folks cant feel the difference on road then there is something seriously wrong.

For looks on 748/916 and 749/999 its got to be Dymag imho not sure about the later dukes.

  10. @arthurbikemad how can you possibly disagree with what I feel or don't feel on my bike - are you psychic or something?

  11. Haha, why dig me, reason why mate is simple, in all the tests EVER done on BST wheels that's where they make up time. My bike was not the same after fitting BST wheels. Maybe it's a BMW thing.

  12. Ye, I know. It kinda goes against all the hype. Don't get me wrong I think they are great wheels, dead light and look great but the do not feel any difference to me when circulating the track. Lap times aren't any different either.
I must just be too slow to be using them properly.

  13. Yep, I agree with what the hype and other people say. But I said I, that is me, do not feel any difference and you disagree that I don't feel any difference ? How can you do that ?
It's a bit like me saying "I don't like cheese" and you telling me I do !

There is a huge difference when taking them for tyre changes :)

  14. Easy I click on the button marked X ;)

Mate don't take it personally this is the UK site, not the U.S one. Given my knowlage of these things I feel I have the right to dissagree, if as you say your just plodding round mid pack then yes how would you know, why bother with the expence? Given the reduction in mass I am surprised you don't feel any difference in the response of the bikes suspention, turning, braking and other factors effected by gyroscopic's, hype or not I was surprised so I disagreed with the post.

I've removed it, after all like you say what would I know about your bike.

  15. No, not taking it personally at all, I just said what I felt or didn't feel and you kinda said I didn't by disagreeing, just felt a bit strange to be told what I was or wasn't feeling I guess.
I'll ask you what I'm feeling before I post next time just to make sure I get it right :)

I'm not near the fastest on track usually top 10 in advanced group at what tracks I've been to, so possibly it's just that, not fast enough to utilise. Regarding bothering with the experience, I picked them up 2nd hand with a tyre bundle for a good price that's why I have them. But having experienced them I wouldn't pay top dollar for them.
Reduction in mass is all as you say, all I'm saying is I do not feel it....don't know why, I just don't.
    Regards
    Davy

  16. Funnily enough Davy, I have to agree with you to some extent.

The BST's on my 749R changed it into a different bike, but the BST's I had fitted to a 2010 Blade didn't make the same difference, not sure why, they just didn't have the immediate 'wow feel the difference' effect.

  17. That's my point Davy, don't you find it odd given the massive change you don't feel it, maybe your bike is not feeding back enough info to you the rider to give you a better feel of what's going on, do you not wonder why given such a big change that feeling is not more obverouse?

Hence why I disagreed, it was just a flippant click of a button, I.e I find it unbelivable that you can not feel and difference based on my experience with several different makes of bikes running BST wheels.

  18. If you are at the very sharp end of a fast group you are not a slow mid pack rider

  20. Yep, I agree and I have no answer. My bike is fine - Jeremy McWilliams has ridden it and complimented me on it's handling and the way it drives out of corners (due to ECU reflash) compared to other S1K's, Dennis Hobbs - Tri Options Cup Champion 2014 has tried it and says much the same - both said it was a bit firm for them but that's because it's set up for me more of a FB then those 2.
So bike is fine, I just don't feel the difference in handling between the wheels.
    Don't know why.
