I am listening, was just a bit of a shock when I read your post. We all know unless pushing a good evaluation of one v the other may not be possible, but given how I have felt such changes its always been rather dramatic at any speed, not saying what you posted was wrong and as you righty say how can I say what you feel about your bike, was just shocked you did not feel much difference. I did have another guy once who rode a blade with BSTs who said he could not tell the difference at ALL.
Here is a link to a video of my 1st ever race (fun race at Almeria last October) The guy on pole races in the German Superbikes (S1K). 3 off the other 4 in front of me race in the Scottish Championship. Race start is about 2 mins And no....I didn't... Regards Davy
To me how fast you ride is irrelevant from my experience with carbon wheels.I can feel the difference as soon as I release the clutch around town or blasting down my favourite rural roads. For me the difference is that massive its hard for me to comprehend how other cannot feel it.Maybe its the bike as I ride a older 916. Bike accelerates much faster in fact feels totally different even more of a handful than standard sps Engine sounds different on the move ( I know this is a funny one but it does) noticed this on m-way Motorway riding with far less gear changes as bike pulls much better from anywhere in the rev range Braking is much improved Bike turns much faster Have to put more body weight over front even at higher speeds in top end as front wants to lift easier. On fitting carbon wheels I kept turning in far to early until my brain re adjusted. Considering my bike is old the mechanic at JHP that test rode it after service came back shaking his head saying 'that thing is fucking fast'.After refitting the alloy marchesini's for a while I can confirm this is 100% down to the carbon wheels.
What we have to weigh up here is the difference in weight between the original wheels and the carbons. Matt#corse the early dukes do respond well to lighter wheels because the standard ones are so freaking heavy. I can feel the difference between my std 3 spokers and my mags, but going from mags to a borrowed set of carbons made no difference to me. The weight difference i later found is very minimal and saved me £2500. If you're shaving 2Kg per wheel off a bike though and it makes no difference to your lap time then you're at your talent limit. Been at mine for years, my brains got no room for more learning now so I just enjoy riding at my pace.
