Building A Workshop

  1. I went for the industrial/chic look, with the whole shed20x10ish,made from box section steel sheet.Im not in the same league as you lot ,finance wise,so this suited my very thin wallet.Only took a couple of days to chuck up and its weather proof,so better than my last shed!Ive clad the front with t&g recycled from one of the old sheds I knocked down.A bit chilly this time of year but I can always put a jumper on.;)

  2. welded, rivited, bolted ?

  3. just looked at my note book and you are correct with 3mtrs not 4 to the ridge but other than that to my knowledge (from recent research) if you stay within those parameters you will be ok nation wide... I was looking it all up about 2 months back as im a chippy an want to go into building solely timber constructed annexes and workshops. There is a really good source of info (which i thought i had saved!!!) will find it and post a link. As you said though, contact the council/ building control as contrary to popular belief they are usually very helpful.

  4. Interesting line of work to get into - especially at the higher end, you can do some interesting builds fairly cheaply too, like full double glazed glass walls with say a 7ft square pain for not too much money. I was considering doing this with my RH Door on my garage. Good luck with the venture!

  7. Maybe.. but is decent frame work or more shitty english garden shed with 2x1 studs at 1mtr centers(relying on the cladding for strength) with an osb roof, clout on felt and perspex windows?

  8. It would be interesting but you're too far a way and I have little money, but loads of bikes. Interesting though as I have some good ideas. Modular self build kit would be a very interesting venture...

  9. Already done...follow the links I put up.

  10. I know there's a few but a still a good market for the right product I think.

  11. Would rather build bespoke on site
prefer to build bespoke on site, perhaps going into modular in the future. Mostly i need a plot for a show unit (and some money!)

  12. Give me a cost fella.

  13. Give him a detailed RFQ?
