848 Carbon Key Guard Fitment

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by Coffey, Jun 17, 2017.

  1. I bought mine from someone on here so went back through my messages and found the pm's and it brought it back what a nightmare it was to fit. I got one of the guys at my work to enlarge the holes on it in the end in order for it to fit. I sent the guy i bought it off some pictures, just to show him as he was interested - said it was a perfect fit on his 1098.

Have a look at these -

Holes too small for the nut -

  2. @Pavey thanks for that, thank you. Looks like I have some messing around to do! I'm sure it will work out in the end! o_O

  3. No worries.

Yes, I have the fullsix guard on mine and yes, it fits 99%. It's a smidge high at the back lip (toward the fuel cap end), but other than that I have no complaints at all.

  4. Update, a replacement arrived, along with the rubber edging I ordered. After some filing and sanding I have got it to fit a lot better around the ignition, not perfect but a lot better! The edging works an absolute treat, neatens the fit, covers any scratches and will prevent any more scratches happening. A deffo addition for any of you with carbon guards! I also managed to de-bond the key sensor off the dodgy one ok too. Phew, all sorted. Thanks folks, and most of all Moto Rapido for excellent service!

  7. Cheers!

Ah, we did wonder what had happened to you and kept an eye out for a couple of Duc's burbling in but only saw single bikes come in hence thought you'd not made it...

Not to worry, was a good evening anyway :) Hopefully catch up soon though ;)

  8. Don't know why you bothered considering the hassle and potential grief.

  9. Well it is quite simple really, I wanted to get rid of that god awful rubber thing, I dont go into any task thinking what grief it may cause, I assume for most this is a simple task, and finally I was not going to be beaten, and i'm happy with the result. A bit of messing around but hey, lifes not always simple.
