Changing visors?

  1. B*stard things don't flip out after a couple of years regular use, but as you say they're not really necessary if you've got the juice.

  2. Get a shark! their one push visor mounting system is pure genius, a complete numpty could change the visor in five seconds (not an exageration) For that reason alone I'm a shark convert!

  3. Shoei!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...... Tel we need to hook up mate next week I have some awesome funding news if you get my drift !!!! Text me , not on here :upyeah:

  4. Butch, I'm in the Lakes at the minute and its a crap signal here.

Managed to get (flaky) Internet service at Costa Coffee to be able to post this.

I'll try and call/text you tomorrow. Sounds interesting

  5. I can change the visor on my Arai whilst i'm wearing it, just takes a bit of practice thats all

  6. Er... it is a piece of cake, but no doubt like anything, a piece of cake when you know how.

Lift up lever, grab visor on one side and give it a good yank. It does sound brutal, and you have to expect it to feel so. Then do the same on the other side.

To put it back, you insert both sides of it in the open position and close it. One side should lock into place. Open it again and bed in the other side. Close the visor again - job done. It takes about 10 to 15 seconds.

I agree that it's a fairly agricultural way to change a visor and one that little befits a high-end, expensive helmet. But that's how it is. One of the reasons I think that Arai are overpriced and haven't invested that much in the way of R&D over the years.

You should have bought a Shark, mate. That's a much classier and hassle-free way to change a visor.
Strangely, I wanted to take Troys's visor off his Shoei to clean it a week ago when he dropped in, but I had no idea how to take it off, despite having had a Shoei for 10 years between 1990 and 2000. I just couldn't remember what you are supposed to do, although I remember it being incredibly simple.

  7. Great video - I'll try it as soon as I get home.

I can't believe it will go quite like that though.....
