Above is a good overview, but it is written by a nuclear industry association, so should be taken with a pinch of salt.
A really great series that'll be short-lived as normal by TV nowadays. Mafia was the same, hope they make a sequel to both Mafia and Chenobyl. The 2 best programmes recently.
Just watched episode 4. Oh. Spoiler alert before I get told off. When the clean up began, they struggled to get robots to work in the areas with extremely high radiation as they failed immediately, so decided to use "bio-robots".................Humans, working in 90 second bursts. Fooking glad I wasn't a Russian Private in 1986.
Some amazing photos here http://knowledgeglue.com/amazing-un-seen-photos-chernobyl-disaster/ Edited to add that maybe amazing is the wrong phrase in this case !
Just watched the last episode Some very brave people in the aftermath of the disaster. Not just in the work they did but in speaking up against the state.
I've just watched an interview with 2 of the miners who dug under the reactor, on Sky news. Sky are saying the Russians are claiming series is innacurate and "American propoganda" .......................100% accurate then.
a Chernobyl video made by a UKMOC member who I haven't seen since he made it/not active on Forum since June 2014 - hope you're ok if reading Adrian:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=YfulqRdDbsg
