Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by Mattt, Dec 13, 2018.

  1. Hello Matt,
I have found three pictures as a reference to brembo equipment of about 15 ton 20 years ago. P1030850v2.jpg P1030844v2.jpg P1030850v2.jpg P1030844v2.jpg

  2. @Mattt Ive a 99MY 748, if I remember I’ll take photos of the brake & clutch levers tomorrow. They’re deffo original as I’ve had the bike from new. From memory they’re gold. I’m assuming Ducati would use the same across 748 & 916. However, they may have changed in the 4 years between 95 & 99.

  3. found this off my 95 916 any good ?

  4. Had some chorosion on my brembo levers,
While I cleaned them up I fitted the black levers from Wemoto.
    Perfect product and good value.

  5. The top photos are different ,mine have the clear plastic bottles
Im trying to get another dark colour clutch lever and bracket, as the bike i think should have dark ,plus the dark brake lever fitted is clean and really good condition, the clutch is the scruffy one
Have thought i might try painting and lacquering the clutch lever to save me finding and swapping out the whole thing

  6. Hi. It sounds as if the original lever may have been anodised black. The black levers I have I think are powder coated, and look similar. To achieve a black finish that is durable is possible from an aerosol. but if the lever you have is in good condition give it a good washing and send it to an industrial finishing company. I am sure various colours will be available.
Good luck. My best advise is leave it for now, Thrash the bike a bit, now that you have good weather see how it responds Throughout the rev range, test out the brakes. And then you may find how good or bad the bike really is. While you are doing that you may come accross a spare lever, perhaps at a ducati track day?? Have fun

Goldy/silver running into gold for the brake/clutch pistons. Clear cylinders, black caps. Silver reach adjusters.

  8. Hi Matt - just in case you didn't have enough replies already, just thought I would throw my two penneth in as I have been looking for a brake lever that corresponds to yours.

As far as I have sussed............ '98 and prior have the old style levers with a 12mm thread/hole. You can tell these cos they don't actually have a bolt holding them in - just a retaining pin at the bottom. The photo in the reply above is the later 8mm thread / hole which does have a bolt as well.

The later '99 on ones are silver and the earlier pre 99 ones are a darker (but not black ) colour.

The replacement I have been looking at are as per the link below and if you review the whole page I think it gives a good comprehensive description of what's what. It sounds as though yours are like mine, dark pre 99 lever, and that's what I will probably be buying..............

    Hope that helps !
