Look at this pic of a 900 air-cooled engine, above the pushrod hole are a couple of holes where oil can splash onto the pushrod where it enters the transmission shaft so that oil can get into the bearing at the clutch end of the shaft. The bearing is there to support the pushrod and prevent it from spinning with the shaft. The two 'O' rings stop the oil from leaking out of the slave cylinder end of the pushrod, there is also an oil seal at the clutch end (after the bearing) to stop oil leaking into the clutch.
Update: Did 100+ mls Saturday and just taken fairing off and seems bone dry. Happy days. Cheers @Exige
