  1. Point proven ;)

  2. dont over think it. its not sold because its too expensive. reduce the price and it will sell. guaranteed.

  3. I thought I wanted an Akra system or cans for my 1299S when I bought it, until I saw how much sellers wanted for used ones. The standard system is loud enough anyway.

  4. Agreed, plus you'd likely get around 5k back for the 10k's worth of kit when sold separately.

  5. Everything above is pretty much correct, I’ve sold thousands of bikes in my time and if they sit in the showroom floor for too long, they’re probs over priced.
However, the entire available market isn’t looking to buy right now, you’re a month or two too early.
Right now, you’ll get the super keen buyer who’s interested in a shit hot deal, that’s for sure. But if you’re wanting to hold a stronger price, wait until the weather changes for the better and there will be a much larger potential market out there looking for the right bike at whatever price.
At the moment, with -10 temps forecast etc, people aren’t really thinking too much about biking.
Waiting just a little longer, whilst also perhaps re-evaluating the price should see you ok.
Best of luck with the sale.

  6. I recently bought an R1 as I wanted it ahead of the trackdays in March, the dealer told me they dropped the price because sportsbike only sell between may and august in any real numbers

  7. I haven't really decided if I'm keeping my 1299S long term yet. It's got the Ducati transferable warranty/recovery on it until July, will that make much difference to what I could sell it for? I'm also wondering if the 1299 has done it's depreciating now, and prices have bottomed out.

  8. The warranty is a great selling point and has value which honestly won’t change much between now and say March/April. Buyers will obviously have some kind of warranty from a dealer too but yours is the best kind so defo worth mentioning in your ad.
Bike prices are almost always depreciating but that slows down over time and as I said earlier, strengthens slightly towards summer so the next 6-8 weeks should sort you out.

  9. Thank you. The bike is mint and has done just over 3k miles, where would you start it for a private sale and what would be it's straight buy in price?

  10. i'd prolly just wheel it out on the driveway like you have, and do it there. :upyeah:

  11. I dunno about price anymore mate. I’ve not been involved with the dealership since 2019. Check out MCN and Autotrader to get a feel for current prices and go from there.
Take some good detailed pictures, demonstrate condition of nose cone, radiator etc for stone chips. Fork bottoms, discs, wheels and swingarm for water markings and general conditon, same for bodywork and screen etc. Also take a picture of spare keys, service history and docs to show you’ve got the complete package although make sure to hide personal information and so on.
Price it a coupla hundred over what you actually want for it to give you the room to negotiate down a little but don’t go too far as you’ll put buyers off.
And remember, no test rides unless full cash payment up front plus a demonstration of valid insurance cover (if the buyer test and then stacks it and hurts someone in the process, you’ll need those to avoid hefty fines and points.)
And don’t accept another bike or car as proof that the test rider will come back with your bike as said vehicle could itself be nicked.
Those are the general private sale rules. Best of luck.

  12. Thanks again. As I said I'm not really sure I want to sell it, so I'd put up for mid 14's and see what happens. No test rides, there's nothing wrong with it, and even if there was it's got the warranty anyway.
