[QUOTEBusinesses don't become successful by blagging their way through and puling the wool over people's eyes.][/QUOTE] Well Ducati seem to do very well overcharging several thousand pounds for bikes no better than competition. If you ask me that's the biggest rip off of all but then no one is forcing people to buy them.I think a lot of folks on this ducati forum clearly have there rose tinted glasses stuck on there heads. When I sold parts it was for a great price my genuine brand new 998R 999R seat units £500 Ducati price over £900.Then again if I stuck them on ebay for £1500 and some mug purchased it and had there pants pulled down whos fault is that.Sometimes I auctioned stuff on the cheap and price would go sky high maybe due to demand or just the fact people got into a bidding war. The way I see it is you can only get ripped off if your stupid and have mug written on your forehead. The old saying there is one born every minute comes to mind lol. Ps if my bike was worth say £5,000 in private sale but with hard work I could break it and recoup £10,000 guess which option I would take.If some ducati owners didn't like it I honestly couldn't give a fuck lol.How dare people try and get the best return back on a bike they own and paid for.
^^^ He has changed his ID to Elitebikesport or something similar, loads of stuff coming out now but most seem overpriced for starting bids.
No didn't buy it...don't trust the seller, he's been toying with what looks like 3 different accounts in the past few months! If I were to buy anything if his, it would be the forged Marchesini's. Has some interesting bits and bobs all said. Intrigued to know what he paid for that 916...as bet he has close to 10k's worth of bits at his prices!!
It seems to be an emotive subject... My personal take on it that while I would like to see rare models kept in running order, I wouldn't let this logic sway me in my buying. If breaking a bike, be it a runner or not, puts two or more similar bikes back on the road then fair enough. It's the owners bike after all - I wouldn't give him / her the retail value just to prevent it being broken unless I wanted the bike anyhow. And finally, as far as 'mugs' paying ott prices on the bay of e's, well, buyer beware. In today's age with the www and mobiles it's a doddle to find the new cost through dealers, so maybe people are just too lazy? With the exception of a few items of a pound or two I'm aware of what I regard as a realistic price, and won't pay more. Simple.!!!
At the end of the day (when it gets dark!!) it's the owners bike. I've seen uproar on some forums when someone suggested a mod (non-reversible, usually) they were considering as it would destroy the value, damage the history etc etc. When the bike was offered for sale (unmodified, original but not immaculate) how many people expressed an interest backed up by ten pounds notes in preserving this vital piece of motoring history? That's right, none. I don't think the bike was overpriced either, in fact the opposite I'd say!
Stop it Ian.You are talking far to much common sense for this forum lol. Here is another 916sps popped up for sale.Sure I spotted one on ebay with bids of 10k and wasn't mega low mileage either.Think that was a 1997 model I spotted the other day. DUCATI 916SPS 1998 EDITION NUMBER 0483 | eBay If I was buying a magnesium swingarm off ebay I would make sure it comes with a corse type rear shock rocker.Oh and if secondhand id send it to someone like dymag for testing first before fitting or these guys especially if painted as might be hiding something nasty. TPCS Magnesium and Alloy Refurbishing See what I did there folks.Ive helped a potential mug that would spend a lot of money on a performance part without doing or being to lazy to do any research on said parts.First and last time I do this for sure otherwise ill end up teaching grown adults how to wipe there own arse properly.
It's up for sale now at £1899.00 Starting bid with quick change sprocket carrier. DUCATI 996 998 748 916 CORSE MAGNESIUM SWINGARM ASSEMBLY SWINGING ARM | eBay
At that price used I opt for this Marchesini magnesium one as if you read the description its brand new and included hub,ti bolts and all important SHOCK ROCKER. Also take into account your rear shock will need upgrading or a lot of internal mods as it will be like a pogo stick without modification. Also ducati performance mag triple clamps with different offset to standard would make the bike right if going for longer swingarm. Ducati 748, 916, 996, 998 and Ducati corse mag long swing arm | eBay If I was buying id make a serious sensible offer and see what can be done especially if it is indeed brand new and unused.Or buy one of these if you can find one of the 25 Dymag made.Same mods as above needed for shock rocker and rear shock.
