Additionally it’s a stronger solution as the twisting moment on the crankcase bosses using a 10 mm and particularly 13 mm plate in aluminium is far greater not to mention far more noticeable. I ended up leaving mine on for several years before I sold it, I told the next owner as he hadn’t even noticed it and he was more than happy with it. I removed it routinely for inspection and for servicing, and there was no further distortion or deterioration in the fixings or the tappings in the crankcase.

You are quite correct Chris. I hadn't noticed the bit about welding a nut on the back for the stand bolt to screw into.
