UPDATE: Tried a simulated bump start, ie 6TH gear, ignition on, plugs out, sidestand up, spin the back wheel, no sparks but a wizz- wizz- wizz noise which I guess is the fuel pump pulsing. Took the crankcase off, every thing looks ok. Removed my repaired starter and the commutator is goosed, in hindsight I should have ordered a complete unit for £99. So ordered one from Electrex World. So while I wait for that to arrive I still have the no spark scenario, surely the ECU must be suspect? Gonna give Avanti a ring on Monday and see if they will test and/or repair/replace. Stay safe everyone, regards, Brian.
Hi Ben sorry for the late reply. I had the ECU tested by Avanti, no fault found. On fitting the new starter motor the thing fired up and has run perfectly since. The service from Avanti is excellent by the way. I got a new starter motor from Electrex for £100 ish so it's not worth the hassle of repairing yours. The only thing I had to do was swap over the drive gear from my original starter. Hope this helps, let us know how you get on. Good luck, Brian.
